Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, with a significant portion in a senior role
- Proven track record of mentoring a team of data analysts
- Expertise in translating complex business objectives into a strategic technical roadmap
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with a history of delivering high-impact projects
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and deep experience with data modeling in dbt
- Experience with Github and establishing robust change control processes
- Extensive experience with web analytics/tracking tools like Heap
- Expert knowledge of business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for driving analytical excellence and establishing best practices across an organization
What the job involves
- We're seeking a Lead Business Analyst, Customer Impact & Analytics, to elevate our data analytics and business intelligence capabilities. In this high-impact role, you'll serve as a strategic partner to our leadership and cross-functional teams, acting as a technical leader and a mentor for the entire GTM function. Your work will directly shape our GTM and Analytical strategy, driving informed decision-making across the company
- You will be responsible for defining and driving our analytical roadmap. As a subject matter expert, you'll collaborate closely with GTM teams (ASD, Key Accounts, CIV), products, and operations to ensure analytical best practices are driving business, product, and engagement strategies
- Your leadership will be critical in advancing our analytical capabilities, standardizing processes, and empowering teams to answer critical business questions and make data-driven improvements. This is an opportunity to significantly impact the company's growth and operational efficiency on a large scale
- Define the data analytics strategy for BenchSci, overseeing the development and execution of core projects, and establishing governance for documentation and code changes
- Lead the implementation and optimization of all analytical tools, ensuring our data stack is robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals
- Propose and lead strategic analytical initiatives, defining key results that directly address core business challenges and contribute to company objectives
- Establish and evangelize analysis methodologies, reporting standards, and data visualization best practices across the organization
- Partner with stakeholders to translate high-level business questions into detailed measurement plans, KPIs, and actionable outputs
- Oversee complex analytical tasks, including data modeling in dbt, event creation in Heap, code reviews in GitHub, data source management, and quality assurance
- Lead the hiring and professional development of the data analyst team, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and guidance on project execution and skill development
- Present and articulate complex insights and recommendations to executive leadership and diverse audiences with clarity and conviction
- Strategically manage project timelines and resource allocation, balancing proactive initiatives with ad-hoc requests to meet business needs
- Collaborate with senior leaders across marketing, sales, customer success, and operations to understand their strategic needs and identify opportunities to enhance our data offerings

Over the past decade, the cost of bringing a drug to market has increased exponentially. But the number of drugs approved has stayed stagnant, leading to a decline in research productivity. Through development of AI-assisted software, BenchSci has allowed scientists to rapidly compute data from scientific journals and product catalogues to dramatically reduce these inefficiencies in the R&D process.
The company offers a lateral solution to traditional, manual data analysis to allow for data leveraging. Plus an automated, comprehensive overview of existing relevant research. These methods have made BenchSci a forerunner in the drug development industry; the company's software is used by leading pharmaceutical companies.
BenchSci continues to invest in its machine learning technology, and in 2023 launched ASCEND. This is software that extracts experimental evidence from internal and external sources to help improve the hit rate of drug trials. It has also raised considerable funds, the latest of which is supporting the expansion of the platform.
