Role
Who you are
- Relevant delivery experience in a project setting
- Able to read and understand electrical documentation including, Electrical Schematic diagrams, SLD’s and load schedules
- Aware of typical Electrical infrastructure
- Experience of working to UK standards and regulations
- HNC qualified as a minimum
Desirable
- Experience working in dispersed international teams
- UK site construction experience
What the job involves
- The P.E will support the Electrical Project team by working closely with internal and external stakeholders to progress ongoing package delivery as well as taking ownership of new small packages of work from procurement though to delivery
- Co-ordination of design and delivery schedules
- Liaising with manufacturers to progress detailed design and equipment delivery
- Liaising with subcontractors in order to understand challenges and prepare for equipment delivery and installation. Producing project documentation such as BOQ, Schedule of Activities, RFQ document preparation and design packs
- Working with construction team to co-ordinate delivery works
- The Electrical Project Engineer will report to the Electrical Package Leads and be based in the Greater Manchester office
- Liaise with Engineering technical team
- To ensure correct specifications and quantities of materials
- Manage TQs, clarifications, Change requests, document review & approval
- Liaise with Vendors
- To ensure information transfer is according to schedule
- Manage QAQC
- Liaise with Project Team
- Provide regular reporting on package progress
- Raise risks etc. for action where necessary
- Manage delivery per Project requirements
Our take
As the world shifts toward cleaner energy, the demand for reliable, sustainable power is only growing. Wind and solar energy are booming, but their output can be unpredictable (sunlight doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow). And this makes storing energy for when it's needed a critical part of building a zero-carbon future.
Highview Power is tackling this challenge with long-duration energy storage using liquid air. Essentially, their system captures excess renewable energy, cools air until it becomes liquid, and stores it safely for hours, days, or even weeks. So, when electricity is needed, the liquid air is warmed to drive turbines, generating power without producing any emissions. Their plants are scalable, reliable, and can be built almost anywhere, making renewable energy easier to access.
Recently, Highview hit an important milestone by raising £130M to build a new facility in Scotland. The plant will create a "stability island" to balance the grid and help transport renewable energy from offshore wind farms to where it's needed most. This project not only strengthens the UK's energy system but also puts Highview in a perfect position for growth, creating jobs, boosting the local supply chain, and taking a huge step toward a fully renewable future.
