Who you are
- Proven 3+ years’ experience in Sales Operations, eCommerce, or similar role with familiarity with Games as a Service business model
- Data driven mindset with experience using data to inform business strategy and planning
- Creative, reliable, positive, dynamic, and solutions oriented
- Have a keen eye for details, particularly as related to dates, timelines, and costing
- Excellent understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently

What the job involves
- Manage all tactical and operational aspects associated with sales initiatives and projects, encompassing new product launches, the development and execution of sales and pricing strategy, physical merchandise, and vendor relationships to drive revenue growth
- Collaborate with Marketing teams to implement and execute sales efforts in alignment with the overall business objectives, ensuring consistent messaging and strategies
- Oversee, evaluate, and optimize sales processes, task management and automation, integration of related applications and tools, and identify areas for improvement
- Responsible for entering data accurately and maintaining the integrity of the Sales team databases, department documentation, and best practices
- Drive communications with cross-department stakeholders to align and inform on sales strategies that support the broader Marketing initiatives and enhance customer experience
- Collaborate with the Sales Director, Marketing Art team, and vendors to create and launch new merchandise products that appeal to current trends and upholds brand strategy
- Work with the online Publishing team to manage the release, updates, and/or removal of all e-Commerce products, both digital and physical
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Sales team and other select teams or departments
- Manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment while keeping a focus on both delivery dates and the upkeep of product integrity
- Support the sales team and collaborate to understand their needs to provide effective solutions for effective decision-making
Our take
Cloud Imperium Games is an independent game company that specializes in immersive storytelling. It is currently developing a highly anticipated PC space simulation game, Star Citizen, initially funded by a crowdfunding campaign, as well as Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player sidekick to Star Citizen staring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.
Originally announced in 2012, Star Citizen still lacks an official release date over a decade on. The appeal for backers, who have contributed over $500 million to the crowdfunding campaign, is that it exists outside the norms of modern game development, and that the company seems to have stuck to its initial plans and trajectory rather than adapting towards an earlier release. Squadron 42, which was originally cited for release in 2014, also remains unreleased.
The company announced plans to increase operations and headcount across the years from 2022 to 2027, which could suggest a release date that coincides with the end of this 5-year plan. Despite the lack of release date, Cloud Imperium's fans are still engaged - it raised record sums from its crowdfunding efforts through 2022 - although there is still a risk of the company frustrating and alienating their donators and target audience the longer they have to wait for a finished release.
