Role
Who you are
- You’re an expert in data analysis, data modelling and designing ETL processes within a BI Developer or similar role
- You’re an expert using Python for data ingesting data and customising visuals (experience with Pandas, NumPy or similar would be preferred)
- You’ve worked with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Azure). Snowflake is preferred but not essential
- You possess commercial experience in using DBT or a similar data automation tool and can build informative dashboards within a BI tool such as PowerBI and Metabase (or similar)
- You’re passionate about creating solutions for our stakeholders. You’ll understand their requirements, clearly document them, identify potential barriers, and translate technical terminologies to educate our stakeholders
- You’re an analytical thinker, with the ability to take ownership, solve problems, and contribute ideas within a high performing team
- You thrive on working within a fast-paced, Agile environment with the ability to manage your workload and execute to a high level
- Experience in finance, preferably with knowledge in Private or Public markets
What the job involves
- Reporting To: VP, Head of Business Intelligence, Engineering
- The Business Intelligence team enables all data-driven decision-making at Preqin by building a centralised data intelligence platform
- The team works closely with stakeholders across Preqin to define and implement the key metrics and analysis that serve as Golden Source across the company
- One of the main goals is to integrate all Preqin data source systems into our DWH and enable users to perform powerful and insightful analysis that drive business value
- Ith ambitious projects in pipeline, we are seeking a meticulous, organized, and confident Data Visualisation Developer to join the team
- You’ll act as a champion by sharing knowledge in coaching and mentoring others, as well as bringing suggestions to the team on best practices, helping to build an industry leading Business Intelligence function
- As a Senior BI Developer, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making processes across the organization
- Working closely with the Research Insights team, you will utilize your expertise to design, develop, and maintain robust BI solutions that convert complex data into actionable insights
- In addition to standard BI development tasks, you will collaborate with your peers in the insights team to identify optimal solutions for our customers and engage in initiatives that improve business processes
- You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between technical and non-technical team members, ensuring clear and effective communication of technical concepts and data-driven strategies
- Provide valuable insights to our Research Insights stakeholders by building industry-leading dashboards that enable data-driven decisions
- Use advanced DBT concepts for data transformation, enhancing our capability to automate management reports and dashboards more efficiently
- Update and maintain documentation related to dashboards and self-service solutions within Confluence
- Take a meticulous approach to analysing data using SQL
- Build effective working relationships with your team and internal stakeholders, leveraging your specialist knowledge to coach others and improve our business's ability to utilize data insights
- Automate the current manual workflow in the Research Insights team
- Collaborate closely with your Research Insights peers to develop creative solutions that enhance our ability to meet customer needs
