Role
Who you are
- Have 4+ years of experience working on software or software systems
- Have a strong customer focus, with the ability to identify and understand the core challenges customers face, even when they are not clearly expressed
- Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and excel with new technologies, frameworks, and tools in dynamic environments
- Have experience working in Python
- Have experience working with compiled languages (this team interacts with, but does not write, C++ and Go code)
- Have experience designing and building tools to be used by other developers, including web based tools, APIs, and/or command line tools
- Have experience shipping systems in a Cloud environment such as Kubernetes and AWS or similar, and understanding concepts such as provisioning and deployment

- This role requires a deep empathy for stakeholders, a strong understanding of business impact, and a willingness to dive into the entire breadth of our tooling
- This is a unique opportunity to drive broad impact on both the business and the daily workflows of teams throughout MongoDB
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to understand their most pressing challenges and create solutions that address their needs
- Develop a broad, high level understanding of core systems used to build MongoDB products, and be able to help navigate and resolve issues that span across multiple teams
- Build tools to use across the development lifecycle to help teams work faster and ship higher quality products
- Provide internal support for our systems, answering questions and addressing technical issues as they arise
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their technical growth, professional development, and confidence in solving complex problems
- Three Months
- After three months, you will have made contributions to in-progress software development projects, including providing feedback and input to design changes while the project is in progress. You will be able to reliably work on small features and bugs, and medium features in areas you have worked on. You will be in discussions about next steps for larger projects to carry out in the following quarter
- Six Months
- You will have led or been a major contributor on one or more substantial development projects. You will be regularly suggesting and evaluating large and small projects. You will be a subject matter expert across some of our systems, and will be able to answer questions about how they perform and operate
- One Year
- You will regularly be leading or making major contributions to technical projects that have a substantial impact on our ability to reliably deliver a good experience for the developers that use our products at MongoDB. You will be a strong technical resource across all of our systems, and will be able to provide support and guidance regarding technical direction. You will be responsible for mentoring newer and more junior members of the team

MongoDB is an open-source, cross-platform, document-oriented database system. It stores data as JSON-like documents and is written in C++, Go, JavaScript and Python.
Essentially, the company develops tools and blueprints to help businesses and organisations modernise their legacy applications, migrating them to the MongoDB database and the MongoDB Atlas cloud database. With this initiative, MongoDB is particularly taking aim at Oracle customers with ageing applications running on the Oracle relational database system.
Since its release, MongoDB has become one of the most popularly used NoSQL database systems due to its ease of use and efficiency. It is also the fastest-growing database ecosystem, and boasts hundreds of millions of downloads.
