Role
Who you are
- 5+ years’ experience in project management role, having broker-dealer, financial vendor, or experience working at an exchange is a plus
- Agile project management experience
- Experience with Atlassian toolset (such as JIRA, Confluence and Atlassian Roadmaps)
- Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task various projects within targeted timelines
- Understanding of regulatory requirements relating to data, information retention, and technology infrastructure management
- Familiarity with Regulation NMS is a plus
- Highly organized and proficient in project-related work
- Highly adaptable to work seamlessly across functions, including cross collaboration with various teams
- Intellectually curious, with the ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and systems
- Team player who can motivate colleagues to achieve great results
- This position requires a versatile combination of project management, process optimizations, and creating or maintaining documentation
What the job involves
- IEX is looking for a driven and experienced Project Manager to guide the development and deployment of mission-critical projects
- You will create and execute processes to streamline workflows and minimize friction for the development team
- You will track and stabilize critical projects, resolve roadblocks, and anticipate the team’s needs to enable IEX’s engineers to focus on the technical problems they are best equipped to solve
- You will collaborate extensively with Engineering, Compliance, Operations, Marketing, Information Security and Executives to ensure that IEX’s highest-priority projects produce industry-transforming results
- Your work will be varied based on IEX’s changing needs; at times, you will be enlisted to manage a complex project pipeline, coordinate engineering work and schedules, and contribute to internal and external inquiries as needed
- Create and track schedules for a multitude of deliverables, funneling all data into the strategic roadmap
- Run daily stand ups to capture project statuses, remove impediments and open bridges of communication
- Assisting with planning, budgeting and tracking expenditures to ensure projects remain within the approved financial limits
- Work with other project managers to ensure smooth transitions between delivery teams
- Capture and prioritize backlog of business goals and associated projects
- Communicate to the management team and various levels of the organization around project status, risks, issues, actions, and dependencies
- Promote adherence to strict compliance policies and software development procedures
- Curate and maintain IEX’s software development life cycle
Our take
Innovations in fintech infrastructure have dramatically changed how people invest, but despite such developments, investors still face limitations when trading assets. Exchanges often list out-of-date pricing information which limits investors' abilities to make strategic investment decisions, a problem that is heightened through knock-on effects from other unstable stock prices.
IEX provides a registered US stock exchange for investors and broker-dealers, focussing on providing a more stable trade execution experience than existing exchanges. The company achieves this through its "Speed Bump" strategy that delays trades to gather up-to-date pricing information whilst assessing them for price stability, ensuring that trades are not executed based on stale data, and helping to notify other orders to react to other stock price stability levels.
Whilst the company must share the stock exchange sector with many competitors, IEX show great promise through its focus on maintaining pricing accuracy and stability. The company also stands out by providing a cloud platform for the selling, sharing, and use of financial data, in addition to an investment lifecycle advice tool for institutional investors.
