Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA required
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in accounting, strategic finance, Financial Planning & Analysis or related areas
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership and management capacity, preferably in a high-growth start-up
- Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends
- Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members
- Strong ability to develop effective consultative working relationships with senior leaders within the organization
- High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism
- Experience working with a hardware-focused business model with Engineering R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and Supplier Management, and Cost Accounting
- Experience working in a DoD Government contracting environment
- Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects
- Experience building and creating executive level summaries of financial data that is presented to Executive Leadership
- Experience meeting critical deadlines and developing reports to drive solutions and process improvements
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills: individual will need to be comfortable working through complex processes and systems changes
- Expertise in financial modeling and proficiency in software like Microsoft Excel and FP&A systems. Experience with ERP systems can also be beneficial
- Advanced MS Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
What the job involves
- We are looking to add a Principal Financial Analyst (Strategic Finance) to our team
- In this position, you will report directly to the CFO and collaborate closely with cross functional teams including Finance, Contracts, Human Resources, Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Business Development and Executive Leadership to provide strategic insight and ensure sound financial planning for strategic initiatives
- Your contributions will play an essential role in leading and driving the company through increasingly rapid stages of growth
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, and analyze market trends and industry benchmarks
- Collaborate with management to provide financial insights for strategic decision-making and support initiatives such as M&A and capital investments. Prepare executive-level presentations
- Project manage major financing initiatives including fundraising, debt financing, grants and other federal or state related activities
- Monitor financial performance, identify KPIs, and prepare reports for Executive and senior management
- Support the development of top-down budgets and forecasts and provide variance analysis
- Identify and implement process improvements related to analysis and management of strategic initiatives

CesiumAstro is a startup specializing in phased array communications for aerospace applications. It manufactures antennas that support in-flight connectivity and satellite communications, addressing the significant data transfer needs of AI and autonomous vehicles.
This type of communication support is vital nowadays, when the transfer of massive amounts of data is mission-critical. The company's first antenna flew in 2023 as part of a payload for defense contractor CACI International. Plus, it secured a lucrative subcontract with RocketLab to provide antennas for the Space Development Agency.
In 2024, CesiumAstro secured funding that brought its total equity to over $150 million. This investment will fuel the company's expansion, R&D and manufacturing goals. With plans to grow its team and develop new technology, CesiumAstro seems set for continued growth.
