Role
Who you are
- Is able to work on a distributed team to deliver small to medium sized features
- Fosters an efficient deterministic testing culture, with an emphasis on minimizing tech debt
- Is able to break down large tasks and solve moderately complex software engineering problems, with guidance from more senior engineers
- Ensures that knowledge is shared among the team and does not position themselves or others as a single point of failure
- Is able to communicate with different people, with different contexts and expertise
- Have real world experience building complex distributed systems. We mostly use Go, however languages can be learned. We really care about your engineering skills more than any specific language or framework
- Enjoy building resilient services that can handle different volumes of work without manual intervention
- Prioritize end-user experience and business value over “cool tech”
- Genuinely care about code quality and test infrastructure
- Have developed “computer science fundamentals”, i.e. concurrency, algorithms, and data structures (Formal CS degree NOT required)
- You have real world experience building complex distributed systems
- Believe software engineering is a team activity and enjoy collaborating every single day, learning from and mentoring others
Desirable
- Have GraphQL API design and implementation experience
- Have gRPC API design and implementation experience
- Have a background in the finance industry
What the job involves
- As a member of the Wealth & Assets Management team, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining innovative products, in a highly collaborative team, that empowers third party organizations to build their owns solutions and products on top of Anchorage platform and ecosystem

- At Anchorage Digital, we are building foundational technology to help the crypto industry evolve in a safe, regulated and highly secure manner, which we believe is essential for maximizing the potential of this exciting industry
- Participates in task breakdown, estimation, design, implementation and maintenance of Wealth & Assets Management systems
- Writes, reviews, tests, and documents code according to Anchorage’s engineering and team standards, and practices
- Dive deep into complex, ambiguous problems, formulate elegant and practical solutions
- Review other developer’s code to ensure consistency, reduce errors and share context across the Platform Custody engineering team
- Collaborates cross-functionally with the Wealth & Assets Management Solutions team and other teams at Anchorage Digital
- Contributes to sprint planning and task estimation and collaborates with the team to solve problems
- The Anchorage Village, what we call our team, brings together the brightest minds from platform security, financial services, and distributed ledger technology to provide the building blocks that empower institutions to safely participate in the evolving digital asset ecosystem

Our take
Anchorage is a crypto-native digital asset platform offering a raft of solutions that help companies leverage blockchain technologies. Its advanced security architecture facilitates streamlined access to the complex and fragmented digital asset space.
Financial backing for Anchorage has come from prestigious investors Visa and Andreessen Horowitz. Anchorage's broad offerings are set to be matched by plans to partner across a wide spread of neobanks, challenger & incumbent banks, and corporate treasurers. This would mean an impressive expansion of their already substantial domain of influence in a rapidly developing sector.
In early 2021, Anchorage secured a national trust charter from the OCC, making it the first-ever federally chartered digital asset bank. This is significant, as it provides a good barrier to entry for other companies looking to compete in this space, and gives legacy institutions the ability to offer digital asset access to their clients. Though it has raised considerable funding in the past, crypto instability and wider macroeconomic challenges forced Anchorage to cut 20% of its staff in March 2023. 2022 clampdowns on customer due dilligence internal controllers added to the pressure on Anchorage to streamline and refocus its efforts.
