Who you are
- 12+ years of experience with a background in strategy and business operations, communications, change management, and/or program management
- 12+ years of experience in building stakeholder relationships and stakeholder management within highly cross-functional teams
- 10+ years of expertise in preparing and presenting to a range of seniority levels (including senior executives) to influence outcomes
- Strong presence and interpersonal skills to interact, influence, and persuade individuals, teams, cross-functional teams, and executives
- Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
- Strong intellectual curiosity, highly organized, effective communication and presentation, with excellent analytical skills
- Ability to handle ambiguity and drive clarity in complex and dynamic environments

- The Enterprise Planning & Performance team acts as the connective tissue linking all functions to work towards a shared set of priorities
- We own the cycle of planning, executing, and analyzing company progress, translating high-level strategy into tangible actions and measurable results

- The Principal, Strategic Planning is a critical and visible role in the Strategy & Business Operations function as the linchpin for Workday’s corporate planning and governance cycles
- This role will build relationships, engage with, and earn the trust of numerous cross-functional partners and internal stakeholders to drive alignment and ensure the seamless flow of business-critical information
- As a key influencer, you will enable and enhance our enterprise-wide planning processes and business performance reviews
- Orchestrate Stakeholder Engagement: Designs and executes a comprehensive engagement plan to communicate with and gather key inputs from partners throughout the annual strategic planning and quarterly business review cycles
- Strategic Communications: Develops and deploys a multi-channel communications strategy (e.g. executive presentations, intranet, Slack, video) to effectively inform and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Facilitate High-Impact Forums: Lead and facilitate a variety of critical stakeholder forums, from large cross-functional meetings to leader-level one-on-ones, ensuring clear outcomes and follow-through
- Relationship Building: Fosters and builds strong and trusted relationships with immediate and extended team members, partners, stakeholders, and senior executives
- Drive Strategic Change: Employ change management methodologies to foster buy-in, mitigate resistance, and ensure the successful adoption of new planning initiatives
- Champion Accountability and Results: Foster a culture of accountability across all partner functions, ensuring that planning processes and performance reviews translate into measurable business impact

Workday is a cloud-based software vendor that provides management of workforces and finances. The company uses a single database for workforce management and financial management to offer integration and optimize business intelligence across companies. It has added to the packages and tools it offers over the years, providing analytic options that allow companies to combine third-party data with information collected by Workday.
Workday has acquired and paired up with many other companies to keep expanding its offering. In 2021, it purchased the employee feedback platform Peakon in response to the growing need for managers to be able to survey workers and collect satisfaction data without face-to-face meetings. The company has also bought and developed many financial tools and HR management tools.
The company’s goal is to provide end-to-end back office services and while there are other providers, such as UKG Pro and Ceridian HCM, Workday’s broad offering helps them to stand out. Though it faced a tough global market in 2023 and has shed some of its headcount, Workday has seen a 6.5% gain in value in the first quarter of 2024. It is now focusing on growth and developing the AI capabilities of its platform. .
