Role
Who you are
- At least 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources or People Operations
- Experience in lean, early-stage organizations (e.g., Series A, B, C) with a comfort navigating change and ambiguity
- Proven experience managing the employee lifecycle, including recruiting coordination, onboarding/offboarding, and employee engagement
- Experience managing payroll of non-exempt and exempt employees
- Proficiency with HR systems such as BambooHR, MedTrainer, Guideline, and Confluence
- Strong skills in Google Suite, particularly in Slides and Sheets (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and reporting)
- Demonstrated ability to build, implement, and communicate HR processes and policies effectively
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and resolve workplace issues
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to innovate and apply modern approaches to People Operations
- Interest and experience in managing employee relations and maintaining a positive workplace culture
What the job involves
- The People Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s People Operations infrastructure.
- This role will focus on enhancing the employee experience across the employee lifecycle and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- The People Operations Manager will report directly to the Head of People and Culture
- People Operations and Process Improvement
- Proactively identify and implement innovative strategies to improve People practices and processes
- Own and manage the onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all employees
- Oversee and clean up company-wide internal knowledge systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Manage day-to-day operations of People systems, ensuring seamless functionality, accurate data management, and compliance
- Employee Engagement and Development
- Drive employee engagement initiatives across all departments, including processing inquiries and providing timely employee relations support
- Administer engagement surveys and propose actionable initiatives to improve scores and overall engagement
- Identify training needs and coordinate professional development initiatives and programs
- Develop and facilitate onboarding sessions, including Welcome and Benefits presentations
- Business Partnering
- Provide consultative support to team members, aiding them in achieving operational objectives and enhancing proficiency in HR-related tasks
- Assist team leads and senior managers in managing employee relations issues, offering guidance to maintain a positive workplace culture
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and meticulous attention to detail in all HR operations and documentation
- HR Compliance and Benefits Administration
- Manage all aspects of benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and communication
- Administer and manage FMLA and non-FMLA leaves, ensuring employees are informed of their rights under FMLA, STD, and company policies
- Contribute to the development and implementation of personnel, compliance, and leave policies aligned with company goals and local regulations
- Support payroll administration as necessary
- Recruitment and Talent Management
- Support the recruitment process for operational support roles, collaborating with hiring managers to identify and secure top talent
- Partner with the Head of People to build long-term strategies for People infrastructure and workforce planning
Our take
While the USA has an extremely advanced healthcare system, maternal mortality rates are the highest of all developed countries. Inequality in access to maternal healthcare means that mothers, particularly from Black, Indigenous and Hispanic communities, are two to three more times likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women.
Cayaba Care was founded in 2020 to help reverse this - by providing care for pregnant women in underserved communities at no or little cost. By providing a single point of contact for patients and carrying out regular in-home and virtual visits it aims to greatly increase health outcomes for people who are not currently being served by the US healthcare system.
Cayaba Care has so far enjoyed success in its mission, having treated over 1000 patients in the Philadelphia area. The service, compensated by health systems and insurers for their work, has not yet been profitable, but the founders believe that will turn around in the Philadelphia market in the very near future.
Cayaba Care has recently raised Series A funding, which will allow it to expand its service starting with New Jersey, with several other states in their sites. With this expansion will come hiring in health, sales and tech as it seeks to develop its technology to better reach underserved communities.
