- 6+ years working with Python and frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI, with a strong command of building and optimizing backend systems
- Hands-on experience with relational/SQL databases, ensuring efficient and reliable data management
- Well-versed in software engineering essentials such as unit testing, CI/CD, integration testing, and ensuring code reliability and reproducibility
- Proven experience leading backend teams or projects, guiding teams to success in both technical and collaborative capacities
- Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and containerization tools like Docker is a big advantage
- Motivated by delivering exceptional outcomes, you maintain a strategic view, anticipating and solving issues to enhance customer experience
- Thriving in Agile environments, you bring flexibility and adaptability to every project
- You enjoy sharing your work and insights with others, fostering knowledge exchange and team growth
- Known for your reliability, you meet deadlines and excel in both familiar and challenging new projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

What the job involves
- As the Backend Lead on our Product team, you’ll take ownership of the backend development, and guide a talented team to design and implement impactful features and endpoints
- You’ll play a key role in shaping our product, from gathering requirements and assessing technical feasibility to collaborating closely with the machine learning team to harness the power of AI
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of backend services, ensuring they meet top standards for performance, scalability, and security
- Manage a skilled team of senior backend developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages professional growth and technical excellence
- Conduct code reviews, prioritize clean and readable code, and maintain streamlined documentation, setting the bar for code quality and stability in production
- Build benchmarking systems and scale our API to efficiently handle increased traffic from new customer growth, ensuring seamless experiences
- Design high-performance, maintainable server-side solutions that evolve our API technology stack, equipping our customers with cutting-edge tools to achieve their goals
- Collaborate across departments to gather essential insights, ensuring well-informed, impactful decision-making in every project
- Take the lead in developing the next generation of our Cognitive Skill Builder, working closely with our machine learning team to bring AI-driven innovation directly into our product
- Partner with the Machine Learning and Data Science teams to integrate the latest AutoNLU features directly into Studio, enabling our customers to harness powerful new capabilities
- Share best practices and key insights in software development, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and growth for the entire team
Our take
Internal processes and grunt work can drain time for any tech business, amounting to what is known as “digital assembly lines” which can waste the talents of employees. This is why many start-ups are dedicating their resources to simplifying and automating these processes. DeepOpinion is one of these companies, developing no-code, API-first, and AI-native platforms that automate processes that would otherwise have to be done manually.
Based in Munich and Austria, DeepOpinion builds text and document workflows that require no code to administer. Its software is also compatible with a range of pre-existing tools, making integration far easier for client companies as large as Nestle, Markel, and Siemens.
With a wealth of large enterprise clients, DeepOpinion had made large strides before its 2 million euros in seed funding was announced in 2022. Moving forward, DeepOpinion is using its funding to expand its product portfolio and grow its central Europe base out to the USA and the UAE.
