Director of Platform Engineering, Valo Health

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and leadership
• 4+ years of management experience managing cross-functional teams
• Experience in creating an effective and inclusive team culture
• Experience building data science platforms: data and feature engineering pipelines, model life-cycle support, data governance
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence business and technical teams
• A strong understanding of AWS technologies for Cloud native applications and services
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience

Desirable

• Valo is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our efforts for our computational platform for drug discovery
• You will manage a cross-functional team of data and software engineers, enhancing our state-of-the-art computational chemistry system
• Your work will support both our external partnership and internal drug programs
• In addition, you will be working closely with our Machine Learning, Data Science, and Medicinal Chemistry teams to accelerate the process of discovering new drug candidates
• Manage, mentor, and grow an engineering team of 4-6 between our San Francisco and Boston offices
• Lead the evolution of Valo’s data science platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable and meets the high-performance demands of our data scientists, all while upholding data governance standards
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across our data science, machine learning, lab informatics, and medicinal chemistry teams to advance our computational infrastructure for our drug discovery and development mission
• Foster processes and technology to boost operational scalability, enabling our teams to rapidly expand capacity without expanding headcount
