Who you are
- We are looking for a resilient and agile recruitment professional who can manage stakeholders at all levels whilst managing high volumes of candidate applications and deliver an outstanding recruitment service attracting the best talent to Wellcome to support the delivery of our mission
- Proven experience in leading end to end internal recruitment processes within a complex organisation as part of an internal/in-house recruitment team
- Proven ability to manage a diverse and high-touch requisition volume
- Proven ability to manage high volumes of candidate applications
- Proven ability to continuously improve in response to new insights and stakeholder feedback
- Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) ideally with some experience of using Workday
What the job involves
- We are recruiting for an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to join on a fixed term contract until the end of November 2025
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment of complex technical roles whilst managing high volumes of applications
- Deliver a seamless candidate and manager experience throughout the recruitment process
- Create an engaging and inclusive recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers and feedback
- Coach and support managers through the full recruitment process advising on process and best practice
- Work closely with the wider People Team colleagues on internal talent retention and career progression
- Contribute to the Talent Acquisition strategy including leading on key projects, helping identify areas for improvement and where technology could support our processes

Our take
The Wellcome Trust was originally founded in 1936 to fund medical research and has since grown into the UK’s largest private scientific research fund, and one of the wealthiest charities in the world. Disbursing over £1 billion in funds a year, it has provided funding to numerous medical research projects in its focus areas of mental health, climate & health and infectious diseases. These include the Cancer Genome Project and the Ebola Emergency Initiative.
Wellcome's recent decision to divest itself of its shares in fossil fuels has also relieved it of a persistent source of controversy, as this was potentially hindering the credibility of its climate change research. Wellcome has since partnered with the World Economic Forum to collect data on how climate change is affecting health worldwide.
The company is also moving to adjust to a more global role. The majority of its funding has historically been allocated to UK firms, but as climate change and infectious diseases know no borders, neither does research into solutions to these problems. ln 2019 it established an office in Berlin to strengthen its scientific links in the EU and to allow it to more easily fund important research outside of the UK.
