Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of related work experience
- Self-starter, able to handle ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, identify risks, and find the right people and tools to get the job done
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, Ruby, and GoLang
- Proficiency in AWS and its service offerings
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code, e.g. Terraform is preferred
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Github Actions
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as DataDog
- Experience with APM/tracing tools such as DataDog, Splunk, OpenTracing
- Experience working with enterprise SIEM tools such as ELK, Splunk, or Datadog
- Experience designing test automation on all code implemented through unit testing and integration testing
What the job involves
- Paperless Parts is looking for a highly skilled Platform engineer with a wide range of experiences. You’ll help us take our SaaS manufacturing platform to all American manufacturing shops. Together we can change American manufacturing for the better
- As a Platform Engineer, you’ll enable our apps to be highly scalable, secure, observable, flexible, and resilient. From day one you’ll have the ability to impact our platform. You’ll play a crucial part in the architecture and new features of our platform that services all Paperless Parts applications
- Infrastructure Management
- Modernize and maintain our containerized AWS infrastructure CI / CD
- Automate our infrastructure with Terraform in a Continuous Delivery environment
- Orchestrate infrastructure workflows for developer self-service automation
- Observability
- Evolve our observability by enhancing and tuning alarms
- Assist developers with tracing instrumentation
- Recommend observability techniques for new applications
- Security, Governance, and Compliance
- To fully meet the needs of our customers, our cloud infrastructure must meet certain government compliance standards
- Support internal and external audit teams to prepare for and participate in security, software licensing, and regulatory audits, ensuring that all necessary documentation and evidence is available and accurate

- As part of the Paperless Parts team, further, the company-wide DEI & social impact initiates

Paperless Parts provides an estimating and quoting software platform for manufacturers and job shops, focusing on eradicating paperwork from the process. The platform organizes quote information into a single point of knowledge for all parties, using this data to automate manual steps.
With this approach, the company says it's cutting costs, speeding up how components get deployes, and keeping everything secure and cmpliant along with way. And it seems to be working, as its now setting its sights on expanding into the Canadian and Mexican market, aiming to take its success even further.
