Who you are
- This opportunity is for first-year Master students (preferred) and third-year Bachelor students graduating between December 2025 - June 2026
- Undergraduate major or graduate program in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or similar field
- Previously worked in a PR agency, Communications team, or newsroom
- Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and quality
- Strong verbal communication abilities complemented by interpersonal skills that allows effective collaboration
- Proficient in time management and organization, with the ability to manage quick and unexpected deadlines
- Adaptability and flexibility to handle fast-paced environments and unexpected deadlines
- Familiarity with social media platforms and landscapes (ie. X, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Experience in building organic campaigns and strategies for favorable press and social buzz, creating social media content, or community engagement
- Interest in and basic understanding of the business and branding and a passion for pop culture, social media, and trends
- Passion for the Airbnb mission; experience with the platform is a plus!
What the job involves
- Airbnb is seeking Communications Interns for our 2025 Summer Intern Program from May 19, 2025 - August 8, 2025
- The Communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world
- Whether it's speaking to media and bloggers, Hosts and guests, industry commentators, thought leaders or the wider community, the Communications team is the voice of Airbnb
- As an intern, you’ll be matched to one of the following two teams:
- Channel Communications - responsible for the strategy and execution of company campaigns, comms campaigns and editorial content across comms-owned channels (social, influencer + Airbnb Newsroom)
- We define how Airbnb as a brand shows up externally on our social platforms, manage and ensure alignment of the Global Comms calendar, oversee and manage our proactive community engagement and rapid response social strategies, and deploy robust reputation and issues management tracking
- We’re also responsible for helping deliver stories and campaigns that keep Airbnb front of mind, helping to stimulate word-of-mouth and increase brand affinity
- This team also develops and executes social influencer programs that support overarching communications goals and campaigns across TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter
- Corporate Communications - Responsible for assisting the team in our work to defend the company from a corporate, trust and safety, crisis and executive standpoint, while proactively concepting tactics to share positive news about all aspects of our business and maintaining and shaping a corporate narrative that aligns with the company’s initiatives, such as our product launches
- As an intern, you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer
- We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel
- Own and complete a capstone project from beginning to end
- Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
- Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
- Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
- Actively participate in and contribute to the Communications team and broader Airbnb community
- Monitor and analyze brand and competitor social media, providing insights and research
- Analyze social media performance for brand and influencer partners, preparing metrics and reports
- Create slide decks, documents, and compile editorial press pitches and Newsroom posts
- Facilitate Host outreach for approvals on featuring stays in press and obtaining photo credits
- Support program management of campaigns, including drafting briefs, press materials, and maintaining trackers
- Assist in talent consultant needs, team coordination, and scheduling meetings/travel
- Collaborate with internal teams and agencies to develop global media strategies for consumer campaigns
- Stay informed about evolving trends through social media monitoring and news cycles, identifying press opportunities
- Track performance of evergreen influencer program
- Manage inbound influencer requests
- Flag and contribute to opportunities for real-time social content
- Help plan surprise & delight trips based on social media listening

Our take
When Airbnb was originally founded, the product helped customers book air mattresses on people's apartment floors. Since then, Airbnb has had over a billion customers hosted through its platform. With more than 4 million registered hosts worldwide, it has grown into a major player in the hospitality sector.
Airbnb has been successful in disrupting the traditional holiday lettings sector. Before it existed accommodation was limited to hotels and bed and breakfasts, but Airbnb has mainstreamed the idea of renting out spare rooms or even entire homes. It has created a new sector of hosts purchasing properties to rent out on the platform and provides a level of flexibility and a range of offerings not previously possible for travelers.
Perhaps a victim of its own success, by 2022 supply of Airbnb-listed properties began to outstrip demand in some markets, as hosts overestimated the appetite for domestic travel. However, the company is still posting strong financials and has unveiled new tools to support its hosts in a tougher rental market. With a healthy bottom line and a huge user base, Airbnb is very likely to overcome the current market turbulence and continue its growth.
