Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
- Minimum of 8-10 years of product management experience, with at least 2-4 years of managing a team of 3+ PMs
- Significant experience leading product teams delivering customer facing products
- Strong communicator with experience pitching and landing 0-1 new products as well as extensively optimizing existing features
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive customer obsession, and drive data driven decision making
Desirable
- Product management experience in the eCommerce field, including with shopping, ads, purchase and/or delivery flows
- Experience with AI and personalization

- Instacart is looking for a Product Director to drive a delightful and low friction online grocery shopping experience. This role involves leading a team of top-tier product managers to drive transformative changes in how customers place orders with Instacart
- About the Team -The Core Experience team focuses on building the ultimate online grocery shopping experience. We help users swiftly locate and replenish their staple items and explore new favorites. With us, users can checkout confidently, receive exactly what they wanted, and enjoy consistent support at every step
- Strategic Vision Development: Develop and implement a strategic product vision that positions Instacart as the preferred destination for customers' weekly grocery shopping needs
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead a diverse team of product managers, designers, engineers, machine learning experts, and data scientists to deliver innovative solutions and enhance product offerings
- Customer-Centric Strategies: Leverage customer insights and market data to formulate product strategies that address user needs and boost customer satisfaction
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, prioritizing conversion rate improvements and customer retention through data-driven decision-making
- Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate closely with executive leadership and other stakeholders to ensure product strategies are aligned with business objectives, driving overall company success

Instacart is an online grocery marketplace that operates a pick-up and delivery system in the US and Canada. Unlike standard grocery shopping, Instacart sends a “personal shopper” to your local store to buy your products, who then delivers them straight to your door on the same day via their own car. The company also supplies the Instacart Platform, with services for stores encompassing eCommerce, fulfilment, in-store, ads, and insights.
The increased modernization of society has meant more than ever that consumers are looking to buy their groceries online, making space for apps like Instacart to become daily life staples for years to come. Although the company must compete with other grocery store delivery services, such as Walmart’s own, it has expanded to cover large percentages of US and Canadian households, and is now aligned with over 900 retail banners across more than 75,000 locations.
Instacart's software offerings signify the company's focus on tech, designed to move it away from its dependence on the gig economy. To this end, the company has acquired FoodStorm, an order management system that powers end-to-end order-ahead and catering, integrating its technology into its enterprise suite. Despite an IPO in September 2023, market downturns have necessitated a 7% workforce cut in 2024, focused on middle management and creating a flatter organisational structure. With a new streamlined workforce, here's to hoping Instacart can maintain its momentum.
