To reduce global carbon emissions by transforming the relationship between people, homes and the electric grid.
Sense is a technology company hoping to have a positive impact on the environment by providing intelligent home energy monitors. So far, it has done so by supplying direct-to-consumer products for detecting and monitoring devices in the home, helping customers to understand and reduce their household energy consumption. However, it has recently announced a switch to a utility-driven, software-only model.
The company has distinguished itself through its proprietary AI and ML-based technology, which is capable of delivering real-time insights into energy and device activity (even if the devices themselves are not smart). The plan now is that this technology will be integrated into smart meters, rather than delivered to consumers and controlled via the company's app.
Sense has received substantial funding which has allowed it to expand its global footprint across the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and other regions. It has also secured lucrative partnerships with businesses such as Schneider, a key provider of energy infrastructure across the world. As it embarks on a new chapter, driven by the mass adoption of smart meters, we expect further success for the company.
