As part of the Social Media team, this role will support the team's objectives of building positive community engagement through our owned social media channels and running the day-to-day posting, responding, engagement, and overall communication on our social channels
This position will assist in content calendar development, content creation and distribution across multiple social platforms with a keen eye on community engagement to deliver best-in-class content marketing to our social audiences, and to ensure social metrics are met alongside business objectives
Assist in developing social media content strategy and guidelines for storytelling that delights our social audiences, with a global lens
Actively post and engage with travelers throughout our communities to drive positive engagement and build brand love
Deliver impact and implement creative ideas within a fluid and fast paced environment
Ensure all content is on-brand, in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice
Work on developing the community through listening and ongoing optimization of the community management process
Work closely with other team functions such as Brand, PR, Legal, Customer Marketing, Merchandising, Partnerships, and SEO to inform the creation (copy writing, proofing, asset creation) and posting of a monthly content calendar
Monitor social media channels for potential issues and flag to appropriate partners
Coordinate social media programs by running day-to-day social media channel presence and respond activity, including sweepstakes and/or contests
Project manage social media plans with partners where needed
Assist in the reporting of all social media marketing efforts across active social channels to assure social goals are met along with business objectives
Proactively flag real-time conversation and trending opportunities that are on brand that are relevant to engage in
Collaborate with global customer service operations to refine our crisis management monitoring and response protocols

Its primary web businesses include Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and Egencia.com.

Between 2021 and 2022, Expedia has been selling and merging a list of its sub-brands in a bid to simplify its operations, including Egencia and Classic Vacations. Due to plummeting share prices, mostly in the case of its sub-brands, Expedia has been leveraging its subsidiaries' customer base and merging them into the company’s core brand. Contrasting this move, Expedia has also been partnering with tech start-ups in a bid to make travel more accessible to underserved groups. Becoming Rentable, a travel company for the disabled is one of 12 startups that are part of Expedia Group’s new Open World Accelerator Programme.

What this indicates is Expedia’s shift from buying other travel companies and a move towards enhancing the experience of its preexisting customer base. This move is aiding in a long-term plan for greater long-term traveler loyalty, utilizing Expedia’s vast amounts of data, not just from reviews, but from check-in, cleanliness, communication, cancelations, etc to inform how guests experience a property.
