Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in designing for developers (SDKs, APIs, or developer tools)
- Proven design experience, you know what works and what doesn't and you can influence teams to deliver excellent work
- Mastery of design principles, UX best practices, and design systems
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Deep understanding of developer workflows and pain points
- Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products and drive measurable results
- A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences
What the job involves
- This is a position for a seasoned app designer with a proven track record of designing and shipping exceptional developer-focused products
- You will lead the design for our SDKs, ensuring they are powerful (design systems), intuitive (best-practices), and consistent across platforms
- We offer a streamlined product development process where designers work directly with engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and rapid iteration
- Your expertise in design systems, UX best practices, and product strategy will be instrumental in driving the continued success and adoption of our products
- Define and lead the design vision and strategy for our multi-platform SDKs
- Relentlessly simplify
- Own the end-to-end design process, from user research to high-fidelity design and implementation
- Develop and maintain simple-to-use design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency for our customers
- Produce clear, concise, and effective UX copy
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful product launches
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other designers, fostering a culture of design excellence
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform design decisions
Our take
Every day, people all over the world communicate via in-app chats. However, chat and UX tools can take months to build and years to perfect. Stream solves this problem by allowing developers to build chat and activity streams into apps quickly and without hassle.
Having started out building APIs for activity feeds, Stream quickly moved into the lucrative chat market. Its customers now include household names such as Unilever, NBC Sports, and TaskRabbit, and it has seen funding from both big-name firms and startup CEOs - a clear indication of the company's broad appeal.
The company has lately been focussed on further developing its in-house technology, in order to fuel its continued growth in the coming years. It continues to enrich its Activity Feed, Chat SDK and 2022-released AI-based Moderation products, as well as developing Live Video capabilities, which it states clients have been interested in for some time.
