What the job involves
- We are looking for a talented Director of Engineering to lead our Product Engineering teams -- these teams are responsible for delivering delightful user experiences via our CXP platform comprising Agent Desk, Customer Chat, Conversational AI along with the core APIs that power those experiences
- We also expect customers to adopt the automation journey by providing the best automation experience by leveraging our CXP platform
- Our Product Engineering teams are responsible for full-stack development, and our stack consists primarily of TypeScript, React, and GraphQL frontend applications and TypeScript + NodeJS or Go backend services using Redis and MySQL
- In this role, you will work closely with our Product and Design teams while leading a group of engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that delight our customers
- You will be mentoring, coaching, and inspiring your reports to take on new challenges and grow their careers, while also pushing the teams to think about solving complex technical problems in a scalable way
- Lead, develop, motivate, and inspire our Product Engineering teams
- Be a key partner and establish effective relationships with our Product and Design teams to help build innovative features with a focus on delivering a great user experience
- Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies ASAPP's values
- Ensure your teams deliver extraordinary output, and continuously seek ways to make an outsized impact
- Help to set direction for the teams, anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning
Our take
With around 70% of purchases driven by customer experience, call centres are an important part of many large companies' sales operations. But call centres have a problem retaining skilled agents, with high pressure and workloads leading to a turnover rate more than double other workforces. ASAPP is aiming to fix that by providing AI tools to support call centre agents by reducing their data entry and reporting workload.
ASAPP is by no means alone in this space, with other startups such as Lang, Gong and Cogito entering the AI call-centre market along with growing interest from giants such as Amazon and Google. But it's early start (ASAPP was founded in 2014) and focus on development of its NLP models gives it an edge that it seems set to retain, with a client base consisting of enterprise companies such as jetBlue, EY and American Airlines.
In 2024, ASAPP continued to lead the way in generative AI for contact centers, with the launch of its GenerativeAgent product, redefining customer service by automating 99% of interactions and boosting efficiency and satisfaction. With strong partnerships and a history of success, ASAPP is ready for even more growth.
