Role
Who you are
- Experienced in our tech stack: Google Cloud Platform (or other cloud environments), Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Google Pubsub (or similar), Monitoring solutions, Pulumi, Docker, Cloud Build (or similar)
- You have +6 years of proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role
- You are experienced in writing simple, readable, useful code, especially for operational tooling
- You are experienced with configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi and Terraform
- You have experience in monitoring a production scale infrastructure and use monitoring data to react to incidents and make decisions
- You have experience implementing cloud permissions and least privilege access at scale
- You have experience with networking design and implementation
- You are fluent in English

What the job involves
- As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll have a direct impact on shaping our systems infrastructure that powers the product helping our customers to get healthy and fit
- You will be responsible for keeping our infrastructure reliable, scalable, observable and maintainable to support our continuous user base growth
- You will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge tools and technologies, both cloud-based and integrated within our IoT-equipped gyms
- This pioneering role involves close collaboration with our Chief Technology Officer, Luis, as well as with our engineering and product teams at the Berlin office
- Design and build infrastructure & systems that provide high levels of scalability, reliability, and performance, while balancing security, maintainability, and operational excellence
- Partner with product and application teams to provide guidance and best practices around scalability, reliability, and performance of our productions systems, infrastructure, and software
- Solve problems arising from our operations and ensure that the same mistake/error doesn’t happen twice
- Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system-tuning
- Be proactive in performance & availability monitoring; provide remediations for systemic issues
- Ingest requirements, scope work, produce estimates and help define deliverables with project timelines
- Help build an SRE team and SRE culture as BEAT81 grows
Our take
There are two common issues in the fitness training industry - one being that group fitness classes do not personalise to individual needs, and the other being that fitness technology fails to build strong communities. This decreases motivation and can cause training to plateau.
BEAT81 was inspired to rectify these issues, and has since become one of Europe’s fastest growing HIIT training & fitness technology companies. It combines high-intensity group training, motivational coaching, and heart rate technology. Using the latter, coaches can look at data and insights to adapt and improve their classes for specific cases.
The company started with training sessions across multiple cities in Germany, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne. It invested series A funding into continuing to build its technology whilst initiating efforts to expand internationally, as it looks to consolidate its growth further.
