Role
Who you are
- People management experience: ability to drive a team of diverse engineers
- Good knowledge of cloud providers, GCP is appreciated
- Proficiency in IaC (Terraform) and automation tooling (Ansible and/or xcat)
- Strong understanding of network architecture (VPCs, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS, Firewall Policies)
- Experience with Linux administration, containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with IAM, security policies, encryption, and compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, NCA-CCC/ECC)
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools, gitlab-ci is a plus

- Collaborative mindset, able to serve as a bridge between Infrastructure, Research and Engineering teams
- Outstanding communication skills
- Around 6y+ experience as an Infrastructure engineer
- Ideally 2y+ experience as a people manager (including project management)

What the job involves
- We are seeking an Infrastructure Team Lead - Cloud/HPC to deploy Pasqal software in the cloud and in HPC centers
- You will guide technical decisions, implement infrastructure best practices, and manage engineers across DevOps, networking, security, and automation disciplines
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of DevOps and System Administration engineers
- Design and implement secure and resilient cloud infrastructure across GCP (80%) and OVH (20%)
- Connect our Quantum Processing Units (hardware) to users through Pasqal cloud platform and Pasqal HPC software stack
- Maintain the internal HPC cluster up and running for researchers
- Define and reinforce infrastructure architecture standards, including networking, identity management, cost optimization, security, and observability
- Support application teams regarding CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment provisioning
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response
- Drive cloud governance, compliance, and budget efficiency
- Collaborate with other managers in the department to align technical decisions with business goals

Our take
Classical computing, using bits made up of ones and zeros, has almost reached the physical limits of its capabilities, with engineers running out of ways to fit more transistors onto a computer chip. Meanwhile, the processing demands on computing hardware only increase. Quantum computers have long been posited as a solution to this issue, with processors able to exploit quantum mechanics to perform calculations exponentially faster than any classical computer. Founded by a Nobel Prize for Physics recipient, Pasqal exists to bring quantum computing out of the realm of scientific research (and science fiction) and into the business world for the first time.
Pasqal is not alone in the race to produce quantum computers, and it faces competition from well-funded rivals such as IonQ and IBM. However, it is pursuing a different technological line - neural atom computing, which can manipulate individual atoms with laser tweezers. This has the advantage of being more scalable and energy efficient, and can run at room temperature rather than requiring supercooling.
In 2025, Pasqal closed an equity funding round from LG Electronics, a partnership which will see the companies work together to solve multiphysics simulation and optimisation challenges for LG. Having successfully built proof of concept models and overcome the technical challenges of manipulating a few and then hundreds of atoms, Pasqal is building a bespoke control system and beginning to implement quantum algorithms. Pasqal was also awarded one of five grants from the French Ministry of Defence in 2024, as part of a government plan to create 2 universal quantum computer systems for defence purposes by 2032. This new development indicates Pasqal's expansion from solely business purposes into new sectors where its technology can be impactful.
