Who you are
- Experience with modern frontend development (TypeScript, React)
- Production exposure to React Native or native mobile platforms
- Familiarity with mobile release workflows, testing, and monitoring

What the job involves
- This role sits within Float’s Frontend Platform group, focused on building high-quality user experiences across web and mobile. Today, the work is weighted toward frontend foundations and design systems, with ongoing responsibility for maintaining and evolving Float’s mobile application
- This is not a mobile-only role. It’s designed for developers who are comfortable across frontend surfaces and who want to be force multipliers for product teams
- Build and maintain frontend systems using TypeScript and React
- Contribute to and evolve Float’s design system, improving parity between design and implementation
- Maintain and enhance the mobile application using React Native, ensuring reliability and release health
- Own mobile build, testing, submission, and post-release monitoring workflows
- Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver consistent, high-quality user experiences
- Enable other engineers through shared components, patterns, and documentation
- Raise frontend and mobile standards through clear ownership and technical judgment

- Design system adoption and parity improves meaningfully across the organization
- Mobile releases are predictable, reliable, and no longer a single point of failure
- Other engineers can confidently contribute to frontend and mobile work using shared foundations
- UI quality, consistency, and developer experience noticeably improve
- You are trusted as an owner of frontend and mobile foundations
Our take
Traditional finance and internal expense processes are inefficient for companies, with spending on personal credit cards and filing receipts for reimbursement becoming an increasingly convoluted business practise. There needs to be a digital alternative to the historically laborious process of managing employee expenses.
Float is a fintech solution, built to simplify the inefficient internal expense processes. Rather than following the traditional method of spending on personal/corporate cards, filing expenses, and waiting for reimbursement - Float works by utilising technology that enables managers to allocate funds and approve expenses before purchases are made. The company also supports companies operating with remote workforces.
As the business world moves to become more international, companies will look to make their business spending as simple as possible. Float aims to develop its technology and cater to the challenge of company spending. Its $70 million series D funding will go some way to achieving its aims, all whilst expanding its business significantly.
