Who you are
- The ideal candidate will be a highly analytical problem-solver who thrives in a constantly changing business environment, capable of juggling competing priorities, and approaches stakeholders with a client service mindset
- A successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a knack for anticipating business needs, an interest in plugging into all facets of the business, and an eye for process improvement
- 4+ years of experience in a strategic finance/FP&A role, preferably within a media & entertainment or tech company, investment banking or consulting
- BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance, Engineering, Accounting or Economics
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel with experience in constructing complex financial models and developing data driven analysis
- Deep understanding of subscription business models
- Ability to manage multiple high-profile projects and comfortable working without guidance in a fast-paced, project/deadline-driven environment
- Experience conducting complex quantitative and qualitative financial analysis and ability generate data-driven insights to various stakeholders
- Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to distill complex matters for an executive-level audience
- Ability to work effectively across teams that span multiple regions globally
- Knowledge and passion for Media/Entertainment industry
- Understanding of SVOD/Direct-to-Consumer business models
- Experience with Tableau, Looker, or SQL
What the job involves
- The Manager will lead and execute the daily activities supporting the Global Streaming Finance team
- This role will own monthly subscriber forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning for Max
- Additionally, this role will be relied upon to provide stakeholder support across the streaming organization, performing ad hoc financial and business analyses that will inform the development and execution of subscriber acquisition and retention initiatives
- Support the monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning processes for the US Max subscription business
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Marketing, Content, Product, Distribution, and Strategy, developing ad hoc analyses in the evaluation of potential business initiatives to grow subscription revenues and extend customer lifetime value
- Analyze and track key business metrics on a weekly basis, identifying trends and providing resulting insights to influence key business decisions
- Prepare executive level presentation materials that effectively communicate forecasting results & assumptions, business performance, and scenario analyses to be presented to leadership

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is an entertainment company formed from the 2022 merger of Warner Bros and Discovery. It is a leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing, and marketing of content, with Warner Bros alone boasting a huge library – more than 100,000 hours of programming – before the companies were joined. WBD’s portfolio includes Discovery Channel, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Discovery+, HBO Max, and franchises like “Batman” and “Harry Potter”.
Both of the company’s previous businesses have operated throughout the digitisation of the media space. David Zaslav, CEO of WBD, headed Discovery during its expansion into digital media, to make it a “content company” over a “cable company”. The recent focus for Warner Bros has been on next-gen distribution efforts, expanding the availability of its content across platforms and devices to reach the modern viewer. The new company has plans to migrate to one tech stack, which will require extensive retooling, as well as exploring cost-saving automation opportunities for its operations.
Since the merger, the new giant that is Warner Bros Discovery has had a shaky start, forcing the company to wind down operations and cut back on content, which included the very public scrapping of the “Batgirl” movie. However, it now seems the company may have been ahead of the curve, as a wider trend of cutbacks has been seen from peers in the space. This early move, combined with a hyper-focus on cash generation, seeks to establish WBD as an outperformer in an industry on the downturn.
