Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of web development experience
- 3+ years experience with Shopify as a platform (including adding and building apps)
- Experience with an iPaaS (Tibco, Boomi, Mulesoft, etc.) is a plus
- Experience with testing and integrating REST or GraphQL APIs
- Ability to write concise, cohesive code with test coverage
- Knowledge of modern frameworks (Rails, postgres, React, Vue, Node.js) alongside a mature understanding of software development principles
- Have experience with SQL or No-SQL databases with a strong understanding of data structuring
- Strong knowledge of development patterns and frameworks such as MVC, JAM and MERN
- Have experience and knowledge on utilizing cloud hosting platforms such as Heroku, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure for deployment needs and monitoring performance
- Working knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery pipelines
- Total comfort working with APIs and 3rd party integrations
- Great interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to manage workload, meet deadlines and speak up when needed
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented
- A passion for retail and fashion, and a focus on sustainability are a plus
What the job involves
- The Technical Lead will be responsible for implementing well tested and thoughtful solutions across a wide range of challenges. We are looking for someone that has deep experience integrating third-party platforms and following modern software design patterns
- The ideal candidate has familiarity with (or a willingness to learn about) performance optimization, background queuing, unit testing, CI/CD build outs, iPaaS implementation, REST/GraphQL API architecture concerns and database design best practices, to name a few topics
- The Technical Lead will be responsible for implementing articulate backend solutions to solve complex problems for Rothy’s
- You will lead and manage a team to architect these solutions, and evangelize best practices and patterns
- Technology:
- Develop scalable backend solutions with performance and security in mind
- Solve problems in the e-Commerce sphere. Dive into complex problem sets with passion and aptitude
- Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, Data, Technical management and Architecture in the design of these solutions
- Be responsible for implementing well tested and thoughtful solutions across a wide range of challenges
- Drive engineering solutions and level of efforts discussions for stand ups, sprint and quarterly planning
- Write well-written, self-documenting code that follows best practices and design patterns
- Partner with like-minded developers in empowered and self-organized product teams
- Develop, Test, Deploy and support software that meets and exceeds business needs
- Practice Agile methodologies to deliver the software, which will help in providing faster feedback on business features
- People Management:
- Establish proactive and consistent communication and feedback with their team
- Experience supporting and growing direct reports
- Led hiring process
- Reinforce clear performance expectations for the team
- Provide continuous feedback to team and individual development, and holds everyone accountable for meeting these expectations
- Contribute to developing / streamlining department processes
- Identify opportunities to support team’s growth and development
- Lead by example, coaches team members by sharing knowledge and experiences and acts as a role model

Sustainability is a feature that is highly sought after in today's fashion landscape, but premium clothing often fails to meet these interests. Beyond this, the few available sustainable alternatives are usually difficult to wash, maintain and recycle - which is what Rothy hopes to change.
Rothy designs accessories that simultaneously aim to be fashionable, durable, and eco-friendly. Its main focus is shoes, though it also sells bags and purses in a range of styles. Whilst companies have been using sustainable materials in fashion for many years, Rothy stands out for catering to an environment-conscious audience that does not want to compromise comfort and quality for their ethical decisions.
With sustainability concerns on the rise among consumers, Rothy's target market is growing year on year. This, combined with the comfort-first image it has accrued, should present plenty of opportunity for growth in the company's future.
