Company mission

To create safer, happier communities and cities by pre-emptively fighting crime.

Role

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate has experience scaling teams, refining operating models, and enabling SEs to perform across the full deal cycle—from discovery and POVs to solution design, SOW creation, and deployment planning
  • Just as important, we’re looking for someone with a proven track record of operational excellence—someone who can bring structure, discipline, and process to how we engage in deals, track SE impact, and scale our go-to-market motion with precision
  • 8+ years of experience in technology solution engineering, sales engineering, or pre-sales roles
  • 3+ years of people management experience, ideally managing managers or senior SEs
  • Proven experience supporting a mission-critical sales function, ideally in Public Sector or Law Enforcement technology
  • Strong understanding of how to coach SEs on discovery, demoing, technical validation, and objection handling
  • Deep knowledge of how to structure, inspect, and improve the SE role in a go-to-market organization
  • Demonstrated operational excellence mindset—you drive clarity, build repeatable processes, and thrive on efficient execution
  • Experience in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate resources in a dynamic, high-growth environment
  • Strong collaborator who thrives in cross-functional settings and communicates clearly with executives
  • Comfort presenting to senior public officials, city and county leadership, and technical stakeholders
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to manage toward KPIs and strategic milestones

What the job involves

  • We are seeking a Director of Presales to lead our high-impact team supporting the Public Sector business
  • This leader will be responsible for driving pre-sales technical excellence, building a world-class team of Solution Engineers, and ensuring our SEs are deeply engaged in helping law enforcement customers achieve their mission
  • This is a critical leadership role that requires strong business acumen, exceptional team management skills, and deep customer engagement experience
  • You will work hand-in-hand with Sales leadership to accelerate revenue, provide technical strategy, and raise the bar on field execution
  • You will build the systems that ensure our team is proactive, responsive, and effective at every stage of the sales cycle
  • This is a remote position, with up to 50% travel to support your team and meet with law enforcement partners across the country
  • Lead and develop a growing team of Solution Engineers aligned to our Law Enforcement business
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Sales leadership, helping qualify and prioritize deals where SE engagement drives meaningful outcomes
  • Recalibrate capacity toward the largest and most impactful opportunities, ensuring SE coverage on all in-motion PPIs (Projects of Primary Importance)
  • Bring operational rigor to the function: define team metrics, develop reporting cadences, and ensure SLAs are met across requests and engagements
  • Drive accountability and consistent performance through weekly deal inspection, performance reviews, and milestone tracking
  • Build a strong bench of talent by hiring, onboarding, and developing SEs capable of owning the full spectrum of responsibilities: product demos, technical validations, SOW and deployment plan creation
  • Ensure SEs are equipped to teach, not just execute—embedding a culture of excellence and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to influence roadmap priorities and ensure post-sale success
  • Drive creation and reuse of key sales assets, including playbooks, POVs, reference architectures, and documentation aligned to law enforcement use cases
  • Support ongoing enablement initiatives and hold the team accountable for completing learning paths and certifications
  • Establish clear expectations for performance and implement improvement plans where necessary
  • The First 30 Days:
  • Understand the team’s composition, coverage model, and key performance drivers
  • Meet with all SEs and cross-functional partners to gain insight into deal motion, team effectiveness, and priority opportunities
  • Identify performance gaps and develop a plan for enablement and accountability
  • The First 60 Days
  • Partner closely with Sales Directors, TPMs, and Deployment to align on priorities and clarify engagement models
  • Build strong relationships with Product and Engineering teams to stay ahead of new releases and technical blockers
  • Surface process inefficiencies and recommend improvements that drive speed and clarity
  • 90 Days & Beyond:
  • Begin laying the foundation for a performance-based SE culture: clear expectations, metrics, accountability, and documentation
  • Audit current resource allocation and ensure every in-motion PPI has SE support
  • Build a roadmap for scaling SE impact and hiring top talent to support the Law Enforcement business

Application process

Our take

Public vehicle surveillance provides valuable insights to emergency services for the prevention of crime, but bringing information together to create leads is difficult. There's no standardised system for inter-city vehicle surveillance, and this makes it difficult for communities and law enforcement services to work together.

Flock Safety provides surveillance equipment that aims to improve the abilities of law enforcement and homeowner associations to communicate data with each other. The company focuses on vehicle surveillance, innovating on existing technology by using machine learning to categorise vehicles by color, license plate, state, and other data points.

Whilst automated surveillance equipment is used daily within federal police forces, Flock Safety builds technology systems that provide a means for smaller law enforcement agencies to quantify and share surveillance data easily. This data can then be automatically processed to help develop leads, a time-consuming process that would usually have to be completed manually.
