Who you are

Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures is required
Familiarity with Python is required
Experience and interest in programming languages, distributed systems, cloud computing, operating systems is a plus
Experience with C, C++, Go is a plus
Experience with JavaScript and Web development is a plus

What the job involves

Beacon Platform provides a number of core services (written in C++, Python, and Go) and Web applications (Python, JavaScript) running on Amazon’s AWS
These include a dependency graph framework, a batch scheduler, a grid scheduler, developers and operations tools
Your job will be to improve and extend them based on user feedback and long-term plans
You will also write and improve documentation, and give internal and external presentations
Develop core applications and services for Beacon platform
Collaborate with other teams and clients to find out their needs and requirements
Write internal and client-facing documentation

The platform promises to make firms more agile. It does so by boosting developer productivity, increasing the return-on-investment of research and development efforts. Users are able to build apps in mere days (through rapid prototyping tools), allowing them to spend more time otherwise generating business value.

Past funding has been put to expanding Beacon's workforce, particularly in engineering and sales, and scaling across markets in new locations. The integration of the platform by Blackstone, a global alternative asset manager, was a key moment for the company. And it will need to continue such endeavours if it's to stay ahead of the curve.
