Role
Who you are
- Experience in B2C marketing, with significant time in consumer apps and/or marketplaces
- Proven track record of growing a user base from tens of thousands toward 100k+ or beyond
- Strong CRM / lifecycle skillset: segmentation, journeys, experimentation and retention strategies
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving startup: able to switch between strategy, execution and analysis
- Data-driven approach with the ability to define metrics, interpret performance and make decisions based on insight, not just instinct
Desirable
- Experience in F&B, hospitality, or local consumer services where city-level growth and local dynamics matter
- Hands-on experience with referral, affiliate or influencer-driven acquisition, ideally including micro-influencers and creator programs
What the job involves
- Own the end-to-end marketing strategy for the consumer app, with a clear focus on taking us from 18k to 100k+ customers
- Define and track key metrics across acquisition, activation, retention and referral
- Build and prioritise a test-and-learn roadmap across channels, campaigns and cities
- Lead CRM and lifecycle marketing across email, push, in-app and owned channels, using tools like Customer.io (already in place)
- Design segmentation and journey strategies (e.g. by visit frequency, venue type, city) to drive repeat visits and higher engagement
- Own and optimise our referral and rewards structure (e.g. cash bonuses and subscription trials) and turn it into a scalable, measurable growth lever
- Provide strategic direction for our organic social channels (Instagram, TikTok) and UGC-driven content
- Scale our micro-influencer and affiliate model, improving how we recruit, incentivise and track creators (e.g. via personalised codes and cashback/commission structures)
- Support in-person influencer activations and events at Shuffle venues, particularly around city launches and awareness campaigns
- Oversee our performance marketing freelancer across Meta, TikTok and other paid channels
- Set goals, budgets and guardrails; ensure robust experimentation, measurement and creative testing
- Connect performance insights with CRM and product to improve funnel conversion end-to-end
- Explore and build partnerships with offices, buildings, employers and rewards apps used by companies, to drive B2B2C acquisition
- Test and scale local marketing tactics (e.g. OOH, local partnerships, venue-level marketing) around new city launches
- Work closely with sales/merchant teams to align consumer marketing with merchant growth priorities
- Collaborate with product, data and ops to ensure marketing insights inform roadmap and city launch strategies
- Bring a structured, data-informed approach, while staying pragmatic and scrappy in a small team

Our take
Rewards platforms for the hospitality industry can tie restaurants with badly matched businesses and risk being quickly forgotten by users. Uninspiring brands, failure to evoke customer loyalty and the fact that an average of 60% of restaurants fail in their first year sparked the idea of Shuffle, a restaurant investment and rewards platform.
The ecosystem that Shuffle is building is a rather neat one. Investing directly into restaurants, bars and cafes, the company uses its financial returns to set up rewards programmes for its partner hospitality venues and the customers who sign up to the Shuffle platform. The rewards themselves are, on average, valued at about 20% of their order. They’re randomised, ensuring a fun and unexpected reward for customers, which adds a hint of gamification to a meal out.
On the B2B side, Shuffle also provides loans for its partner hospitality businesses. With an estimated 80% failure rate within 5 years for businesses in the sector, this is undoubtedly a further incentive for struggling hospitality companies looking to up their margins. Ultimately, hospitality businesses gain a loyal customer base, customers gain a deal sweetener for their evening out, and Shuffle makes a profit through its platform, reward partnerships and investments.
Shuffle is currently available in Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool, but is expanding across the UK to cities including London, Edinburgh and Leeds. Its hybrid reward platform and investment portfolio have a lot of potential for widespread adoption.
