- We are looking to hire an Industrial Designer that has a deep passion for problem-solving paired with a strong aesthetic sensibility
- Your expertise spans materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes, and you bring a keen interest in both hard-goods and soft-goods design
- Above all, you’re driven by a desire to create insanely great products that push boundaries and inspire
- Experience: 0–5 years of professional experience in industrial design, with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative product designs
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Industrial design or equivalent
- High Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Alias, Rhino, SolidWorks or Fusion 360)
- Expertise in rendering software (e.g., KeyShot, Blender, or equivalent)
- Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong sketching, ideation, and visualization abilities
- Hands-on experience with physical and digital prototyping tools and techniques
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, prototyping and production techniques
- A keen eye for aesthetics and detail, paired with a strong sense of functionality
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort working in ambiguity and handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills to present and justify design decisions
- Passion for human-centered design and a drive to create meaningful products
- Hardgood & Softgoods experience and interest is a plus
What the job involves

- You have a unique opportunity to work alongside and learn from industry veterans that came from the Apple Design team, Ideo & Incase
- Collaborate with a small, highly experienced design team (ex-Apple) to conceptualize and design innovative sleep technology products
- Support all stages of the design process, including user research, ideation, prototyping, and refinement
- Translate user needs, technical requirements, and brand aesthetics into beautiful, functional product designs
- Work closely with engineers, researchers, and other cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life
- Create compelling visual presentations, detailed CAD models, and prototypes that communicate design intent
- Contribute to the development of a cohesive design language for Eight Sleep’s products
Our take
The last decade has seen a major uptick in the number of startups and companies dedicated to supporting consumers to build good health habits, typically around food and fitness. That enthusiasm is now quite rightly being extended to how we sleep.
Eight Sleep makes “smart” mattresses and mattress covers (for regular mattresses) that use machine learning and other artificial intelligence-based algorithms to improve your sleep both by changing temperature and monitoring other physical parameters to provide an overall picture of your health.
The company is focused on two levers for growth. First, building out more technology through additional products and acquisitions, exemplified by the introduction of Span Health’s fitness-tracking app. Secondly, international expansion in Europe, where it has got off to an impressive start in the UK.
