Who you are
- Bachelor or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering with more than 8 years of relevant experience
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent programming skills (C, C++, Python, Perl)
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and logic design
- Experience in scripting and test automation
- Good understanding of circuit design, power regulation, high speed signal propagation
- Experience using lab equipment: high speed oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc
- Interest in and understanding of machine learning
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work cross functionally and drive issues to closure
What the job involves
- As a ML processor bring-up and validation engineer in our System Engineering team, you will have a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of machine learning and systems engineering: performing combined tuning of model + system parameters, studying sparsity and data statistics vs. power/temperature; debugging performance and power bottlenecks for modern machine learning models.
- Additionally, the successful candidate will gain experience with state-of-the art ML processor architecture, embedded firmware development, board design and debug
- Development of post-silicon test and characterization/tuning plans
- ML processor/board/system bring-up and validation
- Drive issue debug found at all phases of product life cycle: bring-up, validation and production
- Lead collaborative test approach and track test plan execution
- Power/performance/speed characterization, data analysis and product definition
- Architecture and development of frameworks for automating post-silicon verification, data analysis and debug

Advances in artificial intelligence apps, combined with a global chip shortage, are strong tailwinds for chip processor Tenstorrent. The semi-conducter developer is designing specialized chips for running artificial intelligence applications, building chips for what it calls "software 2.0".
The company’s unique approach is to build for this future software, which it believes will be written at a higher level. Combining this with conditional computing, Tenstorrent supports a scalable distributed network approach that is analogous to a human brain.
While the market for specialised AI hardware is destined to be gigantic, the company has to compete with a plethora of hopeful startups (as well as major tech companies like NVIDIA and Qualcomm). That said, Tenstorrent boasts an excellent trajectory so far, with its latest moves including unveiling its high-end Wormhole AI processors, and a partnership with LG which will see the development of chips for "Affectionate Intelligence".
