Role
Who you are
- You’re equally comfortable in design and front-end development
- 5+ years of experience working as a Product Designer with a proven track record in creating engaging and intuitive user experiences
- Deep expertise in DAW music production
- 3+ years of experience designing audio/music (or equivalent) interfaces such as DAW VST plugins
- 3+ years of experience in Javascript and front-end development or equivalent
- Familiarity with web and native development frameworks, understanding their capabilities and limitations
- Experience authoring and managing design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products
- A portfolio showcasing a history of high-quality work, highlighting your design process, creativity, and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Proven experience in high-growth organizations, adapting to rapid change while scaling design solutions
- Familiarity with digital signal processing and audio frameworks such as JUCE, Superpowered and Elementary Audio
- Expertise in creative workflows incorporating AI
What the job involves
- In this role, you will be crucial in designing, prototyping, and developing intuitive, engaging, and impactful user experiences for our platform’s music creative workflows
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user needs and business goals into innovative design solutions that inspire and empower our users who are music creators
- Splice embraces a culture of remote work. You’ll see your colleagues showing up from across the US and the UK. To keep us working well as a team, we have regular communication, including Town Halls, departmental all-hands and get-togethers
- Lead the design process from concept to execution, creating user-centered designs for web and native applications
- Build rapid prototypes to test and validate concepts early and often. You will be expected to iterate quickly based on user feedback and technical feasibility
- Partner closely with the engineering team, leveraging your technical knowledge, particularly in Javascript and audio DSP frameworks, to ensure audio interaction designs are feasible and performant
- Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and ensure a deep understanding of our user's needs and behaviors
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging tech, and best practices in music tech and user experience design

Traditionally, making music has relied on instruments, musicians, and a lot of coordination. Splice turns the music industry on its head by streamlining the process of creating, collaborating, and sharing music.
Acting like a GitHub for musicians, Splice sets itself apart from other music production software by offering samples and loops to its customers for a relatively affordable monthly flat fee, while simultaneously allowing creative artists to sell their sounds for royalty-free use. As such, the platform has been used by more than 2.5 million users, from bedroom DJs to mainstream artists such as Eminem, Ariana Grande, and Drake.
Splice co-founder Steve Martocci brings a track record from his previous startup, GroupMe, which was sold to Skype for $85 million just a year after launching. Splice is now valued at nearly half a billion dollars and is focusing on partnerships and adding more samples to its library to work on its product and attract new customers.
