Role
Who you are
- You have an advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field
- You have proven experience (7+ years) in data management, business intelligence, and data strategy development for Software business models
- You have a proven track record in converting business knowledge into data insights and vice versa
- You have in-depth experience with standard business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Metabase, Thoughtspot, Power BI, GA, Looker)
- You have strong leadership and team management skills
- You have a strong commercial mindset
- You are proficient in data analysis tools, and programming languages (e.g., SQL a must; Python, R nice-to-have)
- You have knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and best practices
- You are fluent in English and German both in writing and speech
What the job involves
- The Head of Data will lead the GotPhoto data strategy, ensuring the effective management, analysis, and utilization of data to support decision-making and drive the organization's strategic objectives and key results
- You emphasize business intelligence, insights generation, strategic data governance, and fostering a data-centric culture within the organization
- You will work closely with all departments, and have a responsibility to our BI analysts, the controlling team, and the data engineering team, too, to identify data needs and opportunities, develop data-driven solutions, and support strategic initiatives
- Data Strategy and Governance:
- You develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization's mid- and long-term goals
- You establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and security
- You drive data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- You continuously challenge the status quo of our data setup and governance to improve for better business insights and transparency of our teams
- Business Intelligence and Insights:
- You lead efforts to generate actionable business insights through data analysis and reporting
- You proactively identify positive and negative trends in our business model and derive counter actions with the respective business functions
- You collaborate with various departments and the C-Level team to identify and define/refine key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for tracking organizational and company performance
- You develop and implement advanced analytics and predictive modeling techniques to support forecasting and business decision-making
- Team Leadership and Development:
- You lead and manage the data team in a matrix organization, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities
- You foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Data Management and Quality:
- You oversee the collection, storage, and management of data from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity
- You implement and maintain data management systems and observability tools
- You ensure documentation accuracy and accessibility for all employees
- Reporting and Visualization:
- You design and deliver comprehensive data reports and dashboards to company stakeholders
- You ensure data visualization tools and techniques are effectively used to communicate insights
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- You work closely with departments to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and innovations
- You engage with external partners, experts, and stakeholders to leverage external data sources and insights
- Continuous Improvement:
- You stay updated with the latest data science, analytics, and technology developments
- You promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data practices
Our take
Taking professional photos for events and schools is as much an exercise in administration as it is in photography, with a gruelling and largely manual workload of organising photos, taking payments and shipping out prints eating into a photographer's time. GotPhoto exists to make this process much easier, automating promotions, sales and fulfillment, freeing the photographer to focus on their core business.
Considered the leader in its market, GotPhoto has amassed a customer base of about 4000 small-medium business and sole trader clients across the UK, US and DACH regions. While the company has had strong growth in recent years it still has a large market to grow into, with around 70% of volume photographers still relying on manual systems, and a core market growing by 25% year on year as these photographers start to look to the benefits of automation for their businesses.
GotPhoto was acquired by EQT Growth in 2023, providing investment into the platform's development and adding new features. It will also be able to tap its parent company's commercial connections as it aims to grow its lead in an estimated $5 billion market.
