Who you are
- Expert Python, Cloud SQL/T-SQL knowledge
- Expert knowledge of Power BI; familiarity with Google’s Looker is an asset
- Experience in either Azure or Google cloud environments required
- Experience with Trade Capture/Enterprise Trading and Risk Management Systems
- 3-5years’ experiencein energy markets in a directly related role
- Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field
What the job involves
- Intersect Power is looking for a Data Engineering Specialist with energy market experience. You will be a critical part of the team building and integrating data into reporting and analytical tools
- You will be responsible for building and maintaining data structures, data pipelines, data warehouses, business intelligence reporting, and assisting in centralizing operational data across Intersect Power’s applications
- You will work closely with IT and business partners to identify requirements and deliver data and software for reporting and analysis. As an ideal candidate, you will have experience in the energy industry in this context
- This position will work closely with the Information Technology, Corporate Initiatives, Finance and Origination & Trading teams
- This role reports into the Risk team, which is focused on monitoring and managing Intersect Power’s market risk, and meeting a number of analytical and reporting responsibilities through the use of automated processes
- Given the nature of this role, the Data Engineering Specialist will work on some projects outside of the Risk team’s scope of responsibility and may eventually transition into a more cross-functional software product development and management team
- Leveraging Google Cloud/Microsoft Azure environments to orchestrate ETL jobs
- Authoring and supporting Power BI reporting across multiple teams
- Maintaining schedules, security/controls, documentation relating to data warehouses
- Writing and maintaining Cloud SQL/T-SQL for various reporting/analytical workflows
- Collaborating with software developers to build and deploy software using cloud-based solutions
- Identifying, building, and maintaining API connections for key applications
- Leveraging Intersect Power’s Trade Capture System for reporting and analytical tasks
- Creating change management procedures for processes affecting key operational data
- Creating and maintaining documentation of data pipelines and reporting
- Managing, directly and indirectly, consultants related to Intersect Power’s data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting
- Champion of Microsoft 365 productivity tools to improve processes
