Who you are

This is a hands-on development role, ideally suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving complex real-world power electronics challenges
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
2+ years of experience in embedded software development with a focus on Battery Management Systems, Battery Chargers, or power electronics
Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming
Understanding of battery technologies (Li-ion, Li-Polymer, etc.) and battery management principles
Experience with communication protocols like EtherCAT, CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, and/or Modbus

Desirable

Understanding of functional safety standards that apply for chargers and batteries in consumer electronics
Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex software and hardware issues
Experience in PCB design

What the job involves

We are seeking a highly motivated Embedded Firmware Developer with a strong background in battery charger systems to join our cross-disciplinary engineering team
In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing the embedded firmware that controls our battery charging systems
Your work will directly influence product performance, safety, and user experience across our product portfolio
Architecture and firmware development for NEO's charger and digital power distribution controller
Design and implement real-time control algorithms for charging, power regulation, and safety protection
Implement real-time control algorithms, safety mechanisms, and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C) for efficient battery monitoring and control
Develop firmware features including State of Charge (SoC) estimation, thermal regulation, and fault diagnostics
Collaborate closely with electrical engineers and BMS developers for seamless hardware-software integration
Support testing, validation, and debugging of firmware on prototype and production hardware
Drive features in the higher level robot software safety layer

Our take

The field of robotics has advanced massively in the last few years, to the point where androids no longer belong to the realm of science fiction. 1X, formerly known as Halodi Robotics, is developing androids capable of human-like movement and behaviour, to employ in workplaces and homes across the globe.

1X's androids are strong enough to move shipments but gentle enough to handle fragile items, making them ideal for work in retail storerooms or distribution centers. In addition, they are able to open doors and take elevators, meaning it is simple to fit them into workplaces without making large adjustments.

Its home models have perhaps had the most attention, as the media and public are intrigued by the idea of an "intelligent android assistant" for the home. Although the adoption of working androids is still in its early stages, 1X has certainly made a splash in the space and may well be one to watch as it helps to shape the future of robotics.
