Role
Who you are
- Masters or PhD in Artificial Intelligence or a related field
- Experience designing and implementing AI & ML solutions that drive business impact
- Strong familiarity with cloud platforms & AI providers and their Gen AI & ML services
- Expertise in AI technology selection, evaluation, and refinement (ex. which LLM, parameter tuning, prompt engineering, model fine-tuning)
- Analytics expertise, including data preparation and AI output evaluation
- Proficient with SQL and Python
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, both tech and non-tech
- Experience mentoring and guiding teams - a passion for educating and evangelizing
- Knowledge of best practices in AI development, including coding standards, version control, testing, and documentation
What the job involves
- We are looking to bring on an AI Lead to drive this transformational change
- The AI Lead will operate centrally in our org, and will play a key strategic role in our company
- The role will formally report into our CTO, and will embed with both technical and non-technical teams across our company and product verticals
- The role encompasses many exciting opportunities and responsibilities covered in the section below
- Importantly, the role will not be research oriented - it will focus on the integration of AI, primarily via vendors (OpenAI, Cursor, etc.), to increase productivity and drive business and customer value
- This role will also primarily be an Individual Contributor role, with the possibility of leading a small team in the future
- Deliver and execute on a strategic plan for leveraging AI at Super.com and transforming our culture to AI-first ways of working
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI use cases that drive millions of dollars of business impact
- Embed in tech teams to drive the success of technical AI projects from end-to-end, including data preparation, AI technology selection (ex. which LLM, parameter tuning, prompt engineering, model fine-tuning), output evaluation, and refinement
- Embed in non-tech teams to drive the success of AI vendor integrations, including vendor selection
- Design and implement AI platform components to make it as easy as possible to integrate AI for emerging use cases
- Lead internal AI guilds to evangelize AI capabilities, educate team members on AI technologies and methodologies, and develop best practice guidelines
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI, integrating them internally when they’re well-suited to drive business outcomes
- Champion leveraging AI tooling for software development, and ensure our interview process brings in strong candidates who are even more productive by leveraging AI tooling
Our take
eCommerce scaleup Super (formerly known as Snapcommerce) is looking to revolutionize the eCommerce experience. Instead of shopping around disparate sources for the best consumer product deals, Super wants users to be able to send a message to their account and have the best personalized deals returned, ready to purchase.
The company has tried-and-tested this approach with its flagship and original platform Snaptravel, which delivers travel deals via a text-like interface across Messenger, WhatsApp, and SMS. It proved a hit, crossing the $1B sales mark with nearly half of sales coming from repeat customers. This is substantial, as any significant overhaul of how people shop requires both efficacy and popularity to catch on - Snaptravel has both, which bodes well for the broader Super brand.
The recent boom in eCommerce has spilt over into a marked increase in mobile commerce, too. With Gen Z more likely to shop using mobile, and this demographic maturing into a substantial consumer demographic, Super, with some serious funding to its name, is poised to lead a bold and lucrative new wave in online shopping.
