What the job involves
- Ready to disrupt the status quo of financial services? Join Avant from June 1 to August 21 for an immersive summer experience designed to challenge your thinking and sharpen your skills
- We're looking for an intern to join our Legal team! In this role, you'll support the commercial and regulatory legal functions across a variety of high-impact projects. Working within the legal organization at Avant, you'll be working cross-functionally with Commercial, Compliance, Product, and Operations to help build efficient legal processes and support the delivery of innovative financial products
- Conduct initial reviews of vendor agreements against company standards and assist in drafting standardized contract language
- Support rule change management by identifying, researching, and drafting summaries of new and modified regulations
- Conduct and summarize legal research in support of product and change management
- Build consumer litigation case files and materials and track pending cases
- Assist in the modernization of legal operations, including optimizing configuration of the company's legal AI tool to streamline data extraction and contribute to “playbook” development
- Support legal tech implementation by designing and organizing digital contract vaults and litigation trackers
Our take
Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are powered by machine learning and based upon a large database that helps to manage risk.
For its users, the company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It has issued over $8 billion in loans to date, and has also expanded its business through the acquisitions of ReadyForZero in 2015 and Zero Financial in 2021.
This expansion has enabled Avant to reach towards its goal of offering a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits. Although there are many FinTechs looking at ways to remove the barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans, this expansion to banking products should help Avant to stand out.
