Role
Who you are
- Backend Engineering, building tech Products.
- Infrastructure management experience at scale; ideally you should be comfortable in using AWS and terraform
- An understanding of queue management and observability
- Place the customer at the heart of everything you do
Desirable
- You’ll have experience with functional programming. Familiarity with Elixir is a plus, but other languages like Scala, GoLang, Node.js, Haskell, Clojure, and F# are also great
- Knowledge of GenAI and prompt engineering
What the job involves
- The Backend Engineer role holds significant influence, shaping the trajectory of the company's future in close collaboration with the Founders
- Enabling foundation models to be applied to multimodal data at scale
- Helping to scale our platform to meet challenging multi tenant usage patterns
- Build and maintain a rich suite of APIs to power all of our internal systems and customer-facing products
- Shipping to production multiple times a day, working closely with Product and Design to solve customer problems
- Reporting to Chris, our Engineering Manager, you’ll be working in the Go Engineering team
- You’ll work in a team of (eventually) 7 people and be given significant responsibility, not just for coding but also for testing, planning, and analysis
- You’ll set your own goals, plans, and metrics, focusing on impact and outcomes rather than task completion
- Engineers are expected to be self-starters who really strive for impact. This means proactively solving problems, seeking help when needed, and having a strong sense of product ownership

Our take
AI is currently utilised across multiple industries, requiring companies to continuously collect, organise, and label image data so that AI models can adapt to new scenarios. However, the responses they get from AI can easily fall into the simple back-and-forth of chatbots. V7 is changing this through developing AI agents that simulate how humans reason through problems, reducing errors, increasing reliability, and linking the outcome back to its original data source. All of this amounts to vision-based AI models that learn continuously and with minimal human supervision.
V7's Go platform can ingest documents, images and text and boil them down to AI-solvable steps. Alongside automating mundane tasks, the Go platform has a user interface that supports customised workflows - all with no code required. The company says that using only 100 human-annotated examples in its toolkit, it can label the rest of the training data autonomously. Although it found its first customers in medicine and health sciences, its product is being picked up by everyone from tech companies to asset managers and law firms.
With the launch of V7 Go, the company is taking a bold leap into business automation, making powerful AI easy for everyday users. Backed by big-name customers, strong accuracy results, and 2022's Series A investment round, V7 is very much ready to become a major player in the future of work.
