What the job involves

We’re hiring a Principal Product Manager- AI to lead a highly strategic new product for Xero. This is a unique role where you’ll be the “startup PM” for a small team. We’re looking for someone who’s a builder, has either founded or worked in early stage startups, is deeply customer obsessed, goes deep into user needs, has a keen eye for design, can creatively reinvent products with AI, and has a hustle “move fast” mindset. This role will start off as a senior IC role to begin with, but could grow over time

Set strategic direction for the new AI product
Deeply scope out user needs and product features
Work closely with design to reimagine the interaction mechanism and UX
Work closely with AI and eng teams to build and iterate quickly
Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to incorporate into your product thinking
Communicate strategy and updates with execs and stakeholders
Ship quickly!

Xero is one of the largest companies of its kind, with its promise to save time and effort for small business owners - who often don’t have in-house accounting teams - capturing interest and allowing the company to scale. It has a strong rival in Intuit QuickBooks, which offers similar services, but competes by being most effective for growing startups, and having an incredibly simple user experience.

A series of acquisitions and partnerships, including the purchase of Instafile in 2018, have consolidated Xero’s market share. The company continues to add new integrations, such as with Vehocheck Workshop Manager, and the 2023 launched Beautiful Business Fund that will help small businesses accelerate growth.
