Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
- 2–4+ years of accounting experience, ideally in SaaS or technology
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with NetSuite, Ramp, Salesforce, Avalara preferred (moving to Campfire ERP in 2026)
- Customer-service mindset with the ability to engage vendors and customers directly
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet critical deadlines with strong communication and collaboration skills
What the job involves
- At StrongDM, as a Staff Accountant, you’ll do much more than journal entries. As part of a small, high-impact team, you’ll be central to our day-to-day operations; everything we buy, pay for, and collect runs through this role.
- Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while helping the company scale. You’ll also gain exposure to critical processes across the business while working in a collaborative and supportive environment where we enjoy helping one another and having fun in our jobs
- Lead monthly close activities in NetSuite, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Manage core accounts, including Cash, AR, fixed assets, prepaids, AP, accruals, deferred revenue, and revenue
- Oversee customer contracts to ensure revenue recognition aligns with ASC 606
- Process subscriptions, invoices, credits, and refunds in NetSuite; review customer usage reports for billing accuracy
- Support collections, vendor bills, credit card transactions, and sales tax filings, while maintaining strong internal controls
Our take
With cyber threats becoming increasingly common over the last decade, securing access permissions within data infrastructures is essential to enterprise survival. However, managing this task can be expensive and complicated, leading some small businesses to combine various budget open-source data services which results in insecure and convoluted infrastructures.
strongDM provides a tool for managing permissions and access within data infrastructures, achieved by ensuring information is siloed to prevent one person from accessing all parts of the infrastructure. In addition to providing these modular security features, the company also makes it easier for technical staff to access the information that they need based on one-click identity checks.
Whilst plenty of data infrastructure tools already exist with the purpose of securing permission, strongDM have made the smart move of integrating their siloed approach to auditable permissions whilst making access easier for those with permission. The company claims that its service guarantees frictionless and auditable data infrastructure by also automating access logging and data capturing across entire IT stacks. Its 2024 funding round will be used to expand its operations into the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions. It's also setting up an engineering center of excellence in Poland.
