Who you are
- The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in programming languages, a knack for learning new technologies quickly, and the ability to thrive in a team environment
- Some experience in software development; this could be:
- A degree in computer science, software engineering or other STEM subjects, or
- A significant (and demonstrable) number of personal software development projects and open-source contributions
- Knowledge of some programming languages, for example, JavaScript, Python, C#, and HTML
- An understanding of how Agile teams work
- Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
- Detail-oriented, smart, ambitious, and results-oriented
- Thrives in fast-paced, data-driven environments
What the job involves
- We're looking for Junior Software Engineers who want to get into all aspects of software engineering and design from day 1
- As a Junior Software Engineer at Capital on Tap, you'll play a vital role in supporting our engineering team while continuously sharpening your technical skills
- Starting in September 2024, you’ll begin with a structured onboarding process from our London Offices 4-5 days per week
- Next, we believe the best way to learn is to do - with the right support of course! So you’ll be assisting cross-functional teams with all aspects of software engineering and coding
- Writing and maintaining code, working on minor bug fixes and small features
- Writing automated unit and integration tests and creating reports and documentation
- Working closely with other teams to attain a good understanding of how it all works

- At Capital on Tap, we want to be a place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come and do their best work but most importantly feel included and be their authentic selves. We are fully focused on equality and believe deeply in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, ability, national origin and all the other characteristics that make us who we are.
- We have put a lot of time into developing an inclusive recruitment strategy to ensure our hiring practices are as inclusive as possible. All hiring managers have attended inclusive recruitment training and we have introduced objective skills testing.
- When speaking to teams across the company, the majority of teams felt that we are a diverse community with a huge mix of backgrounds and many people commented it was the most diverse place they’ve worked.
- Over the last year, we have started to share our own stories and experiences.
