Role
Who you are
- An Account Executive or Senior Account Executive with 2-5 years of quota-carrying, full-cycle sales experience
- Backed by 1-2 years of experience selling software in the SaaS industry, preferably in the SMB space. Knowledge of CRM, coaching, or marketing agency sectors is a plus!
- A top-notch problem solver - both internally when faced with challenging deals, but also for our customers
- Empathetic and curious - you’re eager to get to the root of prospect’s pain points and connect them with the right solution
- Ambitious and driven - you're motivated to work hard and win
- Proactive in seeking ongoing performance feedback and committed to continuous improvement
- Experienced with using various sales strategies and channels, including LinkedIn, video, SMS, and chat
- Eager to learn and excited to explore new ways to improve sales effectiveness - we’re particularly excited about what AI can do for making sales teams more efficient and effective while giving them time to cultivate meaningful relationships with prospects!
What the job involves
- We began as Elastic Sales, a sales-as-a-service business where our team experimented with innovative sales tactics
- Close was born from the need for condensed sales communication and CRM software to keep up with the team’s success (Fun fact: we were the first CRM to have built-in calling!) Along the way, we developed cutting edge sales practices, strong opinions, and a reputation as a leader in the small business CRM space
- Now, we are expanding our inbound sales team to handle a growing volume of high-intent leads. This Sr. Account Executive role will drive revenue growth by managing the full sales cycle for Close’s most complex, largest deals
- We expect our AE team to manage around ~100 deals in a given month - with varying levels of service
- Today our lead flow is nearly entirely inbound. Our customers typically sign up for a 14 day trial or request to speak directly to Sales. Our customers are primarily small, scaling businesses and our deal cycle is roughly 2 weeks
- You’ll report to our Sr. Director of Sales and Customer Success, Liz Stephany. You will partner closely with other Account Executives as well as our best-in-class Support and Success teams
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead qualification to closing deals, ensuring a seamless process for our most complex and largest deals
- Develop deep product knowledge but also work cross-functionally with our Support and Success teams to provide resources and support to prospects
- Engage in consultative selling by acting as a trusted advisor, understanding client needs and offering tailored solutions based on best practices and your own deep customer and product knowledge
- Leverage technology using our CRM and other sales tools to track interactions and optimize your sales pipeline. We use Close as our CRM, of course, and expect that you’ll share product insights and knowledge with our internal team
- Conduct experimentation by testing AI-powered sales strategies
- Bring sales best practices, modern approaches, and innovation to our internal Sales team

Our take
Close is a customer relationship management (CRM) software company that has helped a diverse range of companies scale their teams and acquire more customers. Founded in 2013 by serial entrepreneur Steli Efti, the company was initially propelled by the Y Combinator scheme.
Close was originally a spinoff of a parent company named Elastic Sales. The software that became the basis for Close was built to run sales campaigns for Elastic’s customers. Understanding the market appeal and potential of Close as a standalone product, Elastic was eventually shut down in favor of a refocus on the CRM software.
Close is a bootstrapped company that has expanded rapidly. They have attracted some particularly fast scaling sales teams, including customer.io, toggl, and Hipcamp. Going forward they are focusing on product development and marketing efforts, aiming to become the leader in the CRM space for sales teams.
