Role
Who you are
- 4+ years of experience in compensation, people analytics, or a related field
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills with experience building, maintaining, and simplifying compensation and equity models
- Familiarity with compensation survey data (e.g., Radford, Pave) and job leveling frameworks
- Experience using and managing compensation and equity platforms, particularly Carta and Pave
- Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset, with a focus on designing systems that scale
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex data insights clearly to stakeholders
- Comfort working with confidential data and handling sensitive issues with discretion
- Experience with data visualization tools, dashboard platforms or basic SQL (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or Google Data Studio) is a plus
- Prior experience in high-growth or pre-IPO environments is helpful, especially where compensation infrastructure needed to scale rapidly
What the job involves
- As Vanta’s Compensation Manager, you’ll provide critical analytical and operational support to our Director of Compensation
- You’ll help ensure that Vanta’s compensation processes run smoothly today while building the foundation to scale the function effectively as the company grows
- This role is highly execution- and data-focused, playing a key part in supporting our day-to-day compensation transactions and driving the analyses that inform changes to our compensation programs and philosophy
- You’ll partner closely with our Finance team and People Business Partners to align compensation decisions with budgetary planning and workforce strategy
- You’ll also manage key systems such as Carta (our equity platform) and Pave (our compensation benchmarking tool), and build equity burn models that help us manage dilution and cost as we scale
- Over time, this role will also flex into people analytics, helping to build dashboards and deliver workforce insights that inform broader People team decisions and support the evolution of a scalable, data-driven People function
- This role reports to Vanta’s Director of Compensation
- Partner closely with the Director of Compensation to execute and scale Vanta’s compensation processes, including salary and equity reviews, job benchmarking, and compensation band updates
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance on budgeting, headcount planning, and equity pool management, and with People Business Partners on compensation decisions for hiring, promotions, and internal mobility
- Build and maintain equity burn models to forecast and monitor dilution and total cost of ownership as the company grows
- Manage and optimize our compensation and equity systems, including Pave and Carta, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and scalability
- Conduct compensation data analysis and modeling to support decisions during compensation cycles and changes to our programs, with a focus on sustainable growth
- Own and improve daily compensation operations—such as new hire offers and internal transfers—with a view toward automating and standardizing them to support a larger, global team over time
- Support the evolution of our compensation infrastructure by helping to implement new tools, workflows, and reporting capabilities that grow with the business
- Build dashboards and reports that support people analytics use cases and deliver insights across the People team and business, laying the groundwork for a scalable analytics function
- Support compensation-related audits and compliance initiatives, helping ensure our compensation practices remain both competitive and consistent as we expand
Our take
The security auditing process is usually very time-consuming, taking hours to complete, and it is often difficult for start-ups to invest time into such a process. Yet, the benefits of security accreditation are enormous, mainly as many such businesses are working globally and need ways to demonstrate security compliance to one another. Vanta works specifically with start-ups to help them complete and pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
The company is a compliance portal and security monitoring platform that businesses use to assess their risk levels. Vanta carries out a pre-audit of a company's digital security and highlights areas that need to be worked on before a full analysis of all threats is carried out. Other businesses such as Datadog or PagerDuty offer similar security monitoring services, but Vanta monitors its customers throughout the year, allowing any issues to be identified and addressed early on.
Vanta has found a valuable cybersecurity niche within the giant SaaS market. Companies such as Lattice, Clubhouse, and Calm are all customers, demonstrating a growing trend for companies to manage their cybersecurity proactively, which Vanta should be able to take advantage of to further grow and develop into the future.
