Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- A proven experience in complex backend development using Python or TypeScript
- Knowledge and experience with LLM SDKs and libraries (for example OpenAI, Claude, LiteLLM, Langchain)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, TDD, Clean Architecture, and observability practices
- Optional skills: knowledge of search systems, experience in Machine Learning / Deep Learning (particularly with NLP and/or Vision), knowledge of the Intellectual Property field, Domain Driven Design

- We are working on a new product named davinci, that is helping patent agents or attorneys in the process of drafting patent applications
- This product leverages the latest advances in AI, like foundation models, to accelerate the fundamental steps involved in building these patent applications
- As an AI Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining AI systems, ensuring they are reliable, efficient, and aligned with end-user needs
- You will join a team of other AI software engineers, work on an already well-designed AI stack, and contribute to making the most advanced IP assistants available on the market!
- Implement and manage LLM APIs
- Conduct LLM input and output post-processing
- Leverage advanced prompt engineering techniques like RAG and function calling when needed
- Serve and call custom AI models
- Implement guardrails to ensure system reliability
- Develop and integrate AI systems in Python (and possibly TypeScript)
- Implement communication between services for example through REST or NATS messages
- Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of AI models
- Participate in calls with end-users to increase product vision
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure robust testing (TDD)
- Maintain high standards of code quality following Clean Architecture principles
- Ensure system observability and performance monitoring
- Serve and manage production-grade LLM responses
- Optionally, fine-tune models for specific applications as needed
Our take
According to digital business research, artificial intelligence is one of the primary areas of exploration for businesses looking to take advantage of growing tech developments. However, as Kili rightly emphasise, the efficacy and reliability of AI depends largely on the quality of data used to train it. Good data requires good labelling and the ability to store it for future use, and Kili is hoping to furnish enterprise businesses with precisely that.
The data labelling market is fiercely competitive, but the relatively young Kili has made impressive strides in their native France already. A roster of high profile clients including BNP Paribas, Safran, and Louis Vuitton demonstrates their ability to net quality enterprise custom across a breadth of markets using disparate data types. Plus, it has cemented them a strong reputation from which they can springboard in their planned expansion to the US market.
Here is where things may get tricky. The United States takes 40% of the global AI market, and has attracted a correspondingly strong crowd of competing startups and enterprise businesses. Kili will benefit from a reputable track record, but will have to play fierce to get ahead in the market.
