- Bachelor’s degree +7 years experience with track record of leading product development and strategic initiatives in digital identity or related
- Proven track record of leading product development and strategic initiatives in digital identity or related fields
- Preferred experience in digital identity and authentication within a regulated industry, preferably financial services
- Strong understanding of NIST guidelines, cybersecurity best practices, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisions based on comprehensive data analysis
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
What the job involves
- As a Product Manager of Customer Identity at Avant, you’ll play a key role in shaping how customers securely access and manage their accounts
- You'll lead the charge on identity proofing, authentication, and risk-based access controls—ensuring a seamless and secure experience from day one
- Working closely with engineering, analytics, and fraud teams, you’ll drive innovation in identity management, build out a strong CIAM framework, and create strategic roadmaps for the future
- Lead the development and implementation of customer identity proofing, customer authentication, and risk based access controls at Avant
- This role is responsible for ensuring a secure and seamless experience for customers from initial enrollment through the entire lifecycle of an account from account opening to management
- Supervise a team of product professionals and jointly manage the agile development process alongside dedicated engineering teams
- Oversee the effectiveness of Avant’s Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) framework, which supports a multi-product offering through a centralized customer data platform
- This includes unified authentication and risk-based access control (RBAC) across Avant’s web dashboard and mobile applications
- Build reporting dashboards to monitor the effectiveness of control systems
- Partner with fraud analytics to adjust control settings based on identified vulnerabilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of a centralized identity management service for storing and retrieving customer information
- Establish and manage third party vendor relationships
- Develop strategic plans and roadmaps for digital identity solutions and the integration of Avant’s CIAM services, focusing on identity proofing and access management across the organization
- Define Avant’s strategy for account recovery and ensuring account uniqueness
- Manage the documentation and execution of business cases, including the analysis of options and the projection of returns on investment

Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are powered by machine learning and based upon a large database that helps to manage risk.
For its users, the company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It has issued over $8 billion in loans to date, and has also expanded its business through the acquisitions of ReadyForZero in 2015 and Zero Financial in 2021.
This expansion has enabled Avant to reach towards its goal of offering a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits. Although there are many FinTechs looking at ways to remove the barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans, this expansion to banking products should help Avant to stand out.
