Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of experience working as a Java developer with 7+ year of experience in Java Enterprise software development
- Extensive experience working with stacks and platforms such as:
- Java and JVM memory and performance tuning. Mastery with Lambdas, Generics, and other data structures such as Map, List, Set
- Spring Framework or equivalent
- Commonly used Design Patterns and strong algorithm knowledge
- Groovy scripting
- Concurrent programming knowledge, e.g. Actor Model, Java CompletableFuture, and different types of thread pool Executors
- Hibernate or equivalent JPA frameworks, tuning query performance
- Restful Web Services
- MySQL, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL or NoSQL datastores such as Cassandra
- Optional: ReactJS, Javascript
What the job involves
- Code, test, analyze and review code for accuracy, functionality, performance, and security
- Participate in established Software Development Life Cycle which is broken up into sprints and help support product operations
- Provide Technical Leadership and mentoring other engineers with technical competence
- Communicate technical information, both written and verbal, effectively to other team members, teams and customers of varying technical experience
- Work collaboratively with other team members, teams and customers on projects with a positive and energetic influence
- Document solutions with developer documentation, flow charts, UML diagrams, comments and clear code
Our take
Episode Six (E6) was co-founded by a trio of fintech executives from Rêv Worldwide and NetSpend. They were in a position to see the rate at which digital and neobanks were developing new, API-enabled payment methods, and threatening to disrupt the market share of legacy financial institutions.
The main problem for legacy FIs is that their back-end infrastructure has not evolved quickly enough to keep up, so E6 offers them an API platform to more easily create products fit for today’s consumers. It’s safe to say that E6’s efforts are proving successful thus far, considering that its clients include Mastercard, HSBC, Visa, Microsoft, and Japan Airlines.
The company’s footprint has also expanded impressively since launching in 2015, and it now operates in major financial markets including London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Brisbane. It recently launched a first-of-its-kind solution it calls "Business Now, Pay Later", that enables commercial banks to meet the working capital needs of small and medium-sized enterprises through installment offerings.
