Who you are

5+ years of software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
Proven experience writing business-critical, production-level distributed systems software (in Go, C++, or similar languages such as Rust)
Skilled in benchmarking, testing, profiling, tuning, and scaling, with hands-on experience in low-level performance optimization for databases and cloud systems
Experience building services and deploying them on Kubernetes
Strong knowledge of public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams

What the job involves

The Cloud AutoScaling team is dedicated to implementing robust vertical and horizontal auto-scaling capabilities within the ClickHouse cloud environment
We seek exceptional software engineers to develop and maintain the auto-scaling infrastructure to transform ClickHouse into a fully functional server-less database solution
Collaborating closely with the core database team, we are actively working on evolving ClickHouse into a cloud-native database system
Additionally, we engage with other cloud teams to drive continuous improvements in cloud infrastructure for enhanced performance and scalability
Build a cutting-edge Cloud Native platform on top of the public cloud
Work on distributed systems such as ClickHouse servers, keepers, and caches
Improve these systems to maximize performance for customers through auto-scaling
Collaborate closely with our ClickHouse core development team and other data plane teams
Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure

Our take

Database management systems have long been important to the operations of businesses. However, these systems can be painfully slow. ClickHouse solves this problem with its ultra-fast database management system, that powers real-time analytics and apps.

ClickHouse's founding team hail from companies including Yahoo!, Netflix, Salesforce and Google. This has not only lent the company an impressive amount of credibility, but has also allowed it to identify the needs and challenges of enterprises when it comes to their databases. Its system works between 100 and 1,000 times faster than traditional options, and has led to the company being trusted by the likes of eBay, Uber and Spotify.

Valued at $1 billion back in 2021, it is clear that ClickHouse holds a strong position in the market, though it does face competition from rivals such as StarTree and Imply. It has seen substantial funding, the most recent of which is cited to help expand its product and engineering teams. In 2022, the company also launched ClickHouse Cloud - a fully managed, SOC 2 Type 2-compliant cloud-hosted version of its database that is now available in the AWS Marketplace.
