Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Strong background in event-driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, NATS)
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Experience with integrating LLMs in event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with optimizing LLM inference in distributed environments
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts
- Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS
- Experience with monorepo structures and build systems (we use Yarn, Nx, and Turbo)
Desirable
- Experience with real-time communication protocols (WebSockets, Socket.io)
- Knowledge of GraphQL or gRPC
- Understanding of CQRS and event sourcing patterns
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of distributed systems
What the job involves
- As a TypeScript Engineer specializing in Event-Driven Systems at Wander, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing scalable, real-time features that enhance our travel platform's responsiveness
- Design and implement event-driven architectures using TypeScript
- Work with message brokers like Kafka or NATS to build robust, scalable systems
- Develop microservices that communicate via event streams
- Ensure data consistency and fault tolerance in distributed systems
- Design and implement event-driven systems that incorporate LLM processing for real-time insights and actions
- Develop efficient pipelines for LLM inference in distributed systems
- Optimize event flow and processing for high-throughput scenarios
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate event-driven patterns across our platform
Our take
While AirBnB disrupted the hotel and hospitality industries, the novelty has worn off. Surprise fees, sub-par cleaning, uncomfortable beds and unreliable photos are just some of the factors which have taken the shine off the sharing economy model. Built as a response to these issues, Wander aims to return the luxury to the vacation and short stay sector.
Wander provides a tech-first approach to letting short stays that might be familiar to anyone using AirBnB or another competitor, but the comparisons stop there. Wander directly owns and controls the properties on its portfolio, allowing it to ensure a high standard of quality and excellent customer service for its guests. Having booked over 2,000 nights of accomodation and with a 95% satisfaction rating over 2022, it seems to have found a strong market niche to grow into.
After raising an impressive amount of capital in 2022, Wander has secured a significant credit facility from Credit Suisse. It will use this to increase its property portfolio across the United States with an aim to put a property within 3 hours drive of 80% of the population. It is also rolling out a facility to allow guests to purchase part ownership of the homes they stay in, allowing them to diversify their own financial portfolios. Wander is in a strong position to capture a large segment of the luxury market.
