Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a strategic and data-driven Team Lead of Operations to lead our Miami operations
- Ideally you are comfortable with ambiguity and can derive strategy from it, enjoy working as an owner and have clear execution ability, and have had experience with and are passionate about scaling operations in a new region
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Operations Management, Business Administration, etc.), and 6+ years of experience in fast-paced operations strategy, business management, or management consulting, preferably in the mobility space
- Based in Miami, with a willingness to co-work 2x per week
- Bilingual in Spanish (required)
- Analytical Skills: High proficiency in data analysis, with a strong ability to interpret and act on data insights, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) and SQL (preferred)
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and handle ambiguity with a positive attitude. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams and drive organizational change. Strong decision-making capabilities with a track record of motivating and inspiring teams to achieve ambitious goals
- Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
What the job involves
- This role will report to the GM of Miami, and will work closely with the Miami marketing and sales teams to ensure all demand needs are met
- Market Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement strategies that drive growth and market share in Miami. Utilize market insights to identify opportunities and adjust tactics to remain competitive
- Driver & Rider Engagement: Develop and execute initiatives to enhance driver engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Prioritize the needs and safety of riders and drivers through innovative programs and operational support
- Operational Excellence: Manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of Blacklane in Miami, ensuring our service meets and exceeds user expectations. Proactively resolve operational issues and implement new processes for continuous improvement
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. Coach, mentor, and develop the operations team to achieve their full potential
- Data Analytics & Optimization: Use data to understand key operational metrics, optimize processes, and drive strategic decisions. Leverage quantitative analysis to evaluate performance, identify trends, and enhance operational outcomes
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Marketing, Finance, and Policy teams to drive city-wide initiatives and campaigns. Align cross-functional efforts with Blacklane's overall business objectives
- Regulatory & Compliance Management: Work closely with local regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with city-specific transportation regulations
Our take
Business transport for frequent travellers can be a difficult process. The pain of booking systems, invoicing, and inconsistent quality of services are issues travellers regularly face, hindering business operations and causing unnecessary delays. Chauffeurs also experience empty cars due to non-optimised booking processes.
Blacklane aims at the higher end of the market, targeting corporate workers, executives and those who have the means to pay extra for higher levels of service when they travel. Through a booking system available on the company's website and in-app, Blacklane provides a reliable high-end service with inclusive pricing and on-call customer support. Blacklane also works for chauffeurs, filling empty seats to optimise services.
The company is also environmentally conscious, operating as a carbon-neutral company since 2017. The company offers electric vehicle rides in more than 30 of its 300 operational cities, and by 2025, aims for 75 percent of all rides to be in EVs. With substantial funding from Mercedes Benz in 2022, it seems set to meet these objectives.
