Prior hands-on software engineering background; strong ability to reason from first principles

What the job involves

Create autonomous, high-performing squads that deliver customer and business impact while developing talented engineers
Lead 3–4 cross-functional product squads, collaborating closely with a Tech Lead, Architect and Product Manager
Coach, mentor, and develop a team of 10-15 engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback loops, and career growth plans
Hire, onboard, and retain diverse, world-class engineering talent; address performance concerns compassionately
Foster psychological safety and high-trust, inclusive team dynamics
Translate mission goals into measurable outcomes and milestones; keep squads shipping at a sustainable cadence
Act as delivery owner and incident manager, ensuring robust on-call, observability, and post-mortems
Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders; swiftly unblock teams
Review technical proposals and system designs, guiding teams toward scalable, secure solutions
Champion operational excellence (incident management, testing, monitoring, controlled rollouts)
Embed core engineering principles: small, reversible changes; ownership; “leave things better”; optimize for long-term impact
