Role
Who you are
- 5 -7 years of experience in marketing, sales, or account management
- Existing relationships with both corporate and independent retailers in the United States or Europe
- A must : Experience in the 3D printing, design, or creator ecosystem, with familiarity working alongside makers, artists, and digital creators
- Familiarity with the 3D modeling, CAD, or additive manufacturing ecosystems
- Proven ability to generate new business opportunities through outbound prospecting
- Demonstrated understanding of the lead nurture and conversion process
- Ability to identify, negotiate, close, and execute strategic business partnerships
- Experience using a CRM database, Hubspot preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate general messaging into a personalized approach for prospects
- Organized, self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently
- Demonstrated empathy and awareness of the unique needs of creative professionals
- Familiarly with the 3D modeling, CAD, or additive manufacturing ecosystems
- Fluent in English, bonus if you have multi-lingual capabilities

What the job involves
- Thangs is growing fast and we need a dynamic business developer to help grow our designer community, forge innovative industry partnerships, and work with designers to help drive their business success
- You will craft a designer outreach and recruitment strategy to identify and bring established and high-potential designers to Thangs
- As part of the community team, who serve as trusted business advisors to our designers, you will act as a strategic partner for designers as they establish and grow their business
- As designers scale, you will direct their growth and enable them to explore options for expanding their business
- You will build strategic business partnerships with brands that complement Thangs’ missions and expand our reach in order to offer our designers new opportunities and grow our community footprint
- You will work in collaboration with members of the marketing and community team to facilitate designer success in terms of onboarding, product and business education, and regularly report on progress and learnings
- This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution with an emphasis on relationship building in a fast-paced, designer-first environment
- Identify, nurture, close new leads through outbound prospecting, including cold calling, emailing, and social selling
- Develop and execute designer outreach and nurture strategy with guidance from the Associate Director of Marketing
- Serve as an enablement partner, collaborating with the Marketing and Community team to onboard designers and ensure early success on the Thangs platform
- Take a leadership role in meeting Thangs’ designer outreach and growth goals through onboarding new designers and supporting existing designers’ growth
- Serve as a trusted business partner for designers to support revenue growth, including identifying new opportunities and partnerships, negotiating rates, and ensuring designer retention
- Develop creative industry partnerships and new revenue opportunities for Thangs through strategic brand, industry, and retail partnerships in collaboration with the Associate Director of Marketing and Thangs executive team that drive creator and platform success
- Negotiate partnership agreements with designers and business partners as needed

Shapeways provides a user-driven marketplace focused on providing rapid turnaround for 3D printed products. The online marketplace offers opportunities for customers to share and produce 3D printed objects at a large scale and rapid speed, resulting in large variety and rapid turnaround. They also work with global enterprises to build high quality prototypes, counting businesses like Google, Target and Kespry amongst their clients.
Shapeways holds a strong industry position following a merger with Galileo Acquisition Corp, which supplied the international and domestic expertise to help expand Shapeways' global reach. In 2023 the company announced it would be doubling its US manufacturing footprint with the addition of two Michigan facilities (in Livonia and Charlotte) that it aims to have up and running in 2024.

Left to become an Executive Board Member at NYC Manufacturing and Industrial Innovation Council. Joined Shapeways as CEO in 2018.
